Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Yeah, I'm OK with Dipper being gone from my friends list. I got sick of it "liking" everything.

Wow. I got a +1 from Jeff. lol

Sorry I came back so late from my last post. I just wanted to say to fejj that I didn't mean anything with my "gay" comment. It was just the first analogy that came to mind. We all probably have known someone like that. I was in no way calling anyone gay... Not that that's a bad thing. :)

It was kind of funny when you got offended though. :)

I like transparency and up-fronted-ness, which really is a word that I just made up. People don't like to read that there are secrets without knowing what the secrets are, ya know? Kind of like you don't know some of the inside jokes going on around here.

You'll start to get the jokes in no time though. Some of the running jokes here have a really short life.

As far as the coaster is concerned, tell your "friend" ( ;) ) that if he were to disclose on his Ebay page what money he has put into buying and keeping the ride, and why he thinks that he deserves the amount of money that he is asking for, and then he would seem a lot less shady. A buyer would rather buy from someone who seems honest than someone who wont even reveal his name.

...or her. (lol)

Heck. I might buy it with the money I found falling from my giant money tree to buy it and set it up along my riverbank.

I'm submitting myself to Pepsi Refresh so I can get enough money from them to buy the coaster.

@Travis. No problem, I jumped the gun a tad. As far as the owner goes, some people are just Private. I don't understand the entire thing. You can see that I don't mind putting my name out there. I just want to do what I can to help the situation and I have nothing to do with the ebay auction.

Again if he/she was trying to just save the coaster, they would be trying to get his/her investment back or they would donate it to any organization or individual that actually might be able to save it.

And there is at least one interested party (that I know of) who would be willing to take it as a donation. They have been in contact with the owner (who ever it is). They were very caught off guard to see Dipper show up on eBay. Apparently talks with the owner weren't going as well as they thought.

In hopes that something still happens, I can't say who the interested party is, so don't ask. Sorry.

That kind of gets me Jason. (unles this is an inside joke). Why does the owner have to be named but the interested party does not?

Because all of this cloak and dagger nonsense is clearly necessary so that nothing at all ever happens.

I would gladly tell you, except I was asked not to.

I never said the owner had to be named. I would love to know who it is though. I would gladly tell you the interested party is, except I was asked not to.

I don't see how it's necessary to know who the interested party or the owner is. I can sort of understand how the owner would want to remain anonymous. Even if there are just a few belligerent people out there. If I were the owner I wouldn't want to be getting hate mail or harassing calls. Not to mention if people knew where I lived. Who knows what kind of crazy things some idiots would be willing to do. In the same regard, the interested part would most likely like to remain anonymous for the same reasons. Especially if they change their minds or the deal falls through for what ever reason.

Just to clarify, I am not nor do I know who the owner is. Also, I am not the interested party. I wish I had the money and resources and land to buy and build a roller coaster. :)

Building a roller coaster is over rated.

You'd think I'd figure it out by now when 4 pages of new comments pop up on a thread in one day. Somehow this is appropriate for this thread on so many levels.

For the very first time in my life, I enjoyed watching that. Weird...

...and very appropriate, RGB.

The coaster won't sell & will be SBNO for years, such a waste just like:

Latest report is that if he doesn't fint a buyer by the 15th, it will be demolished. I just saw a news promo and although they were clearly talking about Big Dipper, they showed a picture of Raging Wolf Bobs.

No need to yell!!! lol

I bet bold is locked. How do we fix that again? Maybe italics will fix it.

I saw that on Screamscape today. While I don't want to see any coaster fall victim to a wrecking ball, or whatever, GL's Big Dipper is not that remarkable of a coaster, imho.

Edit- Nope. Italics did not fix it. Oh well. Anyone else want to try?

Last edited by LostKause,

I'll try re-bolding it and see if that helps.

Edit: Nope, didn't make a difference. Oh well, I can live with it. ;)

[Edit: another failed attempt at un-bolding :)]

An article from WKYC today:
Bainbridge: Fate of Geauga Lake's 'Big Dipper' to be decided by next week

And a WKYC blog post from Sunday:
Wendel on the Web: Geauga Lake's 'Big Dipper' to be demolished now?

Basically, what Jason said. One of the owner's responses on the auction page Saturday indicated it would be demolished on 9/15 if a buyer isn't found by then.

So essentially, this mystery guy is holding a classic coaster that not many people care about for ransom, trying to make a hefty profit, and if someone who actually likes the ride doesn't pay up by his deadline, he will destroy it. This outcome is because of people, who post on the internet, are questioning his motives?

It just keeps getting funnier and funnier.

Edited to try and fix the case of Bolditis that this thread is suffering from.

Also edited for clarity.
