Geauga Lake presently, what's going on?

Just some random questions to the GL regulars and possibly some employees (Avalanche Sam)?

How is the attendance overall at the park presently?

Are all of the animals now gone from the park?

Since they closed off most of the wildlife side, did they not bother to remove the SF logos in the closed area for now?

Since the former wildlife side's gate entrance is where CF is currently utilizing for the one kid's area and some flats, are they using that entrance as a means to enter?

Are they still using the ferry boat to cross the lake and if so, where does it dock on the former wildlife side?

I am sure I can think of some more questions in the future but this is a good start. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I am a GL regular. During May the attendace was low. It seems like it is starting to pick up though. Alot of the people usually are at the waterpark when it's hot.

I think most of the animals are gone. Most went to SFMW. There could be some left in the closed off section.

Im sure they removed the logos in the closed off areas. I bet they will soon use that area.

The only entrance to the park is on the wild ride side. They aren't using that entrance.

The ferry boat isn't being used now. They are builfding a dock by the lake walkwway.

Any other questions I'll try to answer. :)

Considering Bill Spehn has been known to read these forums, and since I don't want to make him unhappy by posting anything I shouldn't, I am keeping my Geauga Lake posts to a minimum. My suggestion would be to visit the park, or search the web for unofficial Geauga Lake websites, to see what people there have to say.

Or, just come visit me at the park, and you will see for yourself;)!

I am a yearly visitor and I have noticed all the same changes...and a a few more that maybe nobody caught!

Attendance was low but was due i think because some can't ride the rides. Dominator's restraints were loose....seemed like they should of been tighter.....as far as i know as to the fenced off area looks baren and deserted...not too much from the eyesight. Geauga Lake was definatly under staff....the park should of had much more staff because X-flight was only operating 1 train and only 3 employees operating which should use a minumum of 5-6. Paths were clean. Staff were extremely nice, they actually care! unlike Six Flags, lol! Overall i would say it still needs work but other than that great! oh and i love that theme song! "Geauga Lake, Its gonna be fun"

I haven't been to the park this year, but the corny TV ads have got to go! "Hi! My name is fun..."
Those commercials are down right horrible.
They did their job as you are now talking about them. Commercials don't have to be someone people approve of. 1-800-CALL-ATT and carrot top will agree.

Down is the new up.

Yeah.... the Quiznos commercial, with the freaky Mexican rats, comes to mind. Either way, you love it or hate it, but you can't help but remember it. Haven't seen the GL commercials, and it's probably a good thing, but any advertising can only serve as a reminder that they have a park, and they are making headway.

Good luck, GL. :)

OK, which one is Dominator?
Dominator was B:KF, as for myself I have seen a lot of improvements at the park, cleanliness being the most obvious. A lot of the coasters seem to be running better in my opionion, especially Villian and Steel Venom.

The only area the kills me to see is the old wildlife side, it is really depressing over there. Once you get past the few flats it is like a ghostland and needs a lot of work. Being a former Sea World employee I remember how great it used to look, but I am sure Geauga Lake will spruce it up this off-season.

And on a side note, I finally met Avalanche Sam waiting for Magnum at CP after trying to catch him three or four times at GL, seems like a nice kid who is trying to help GL get back on the right track.

A name that should have been left with an S&S tower in eastern Pennsylvania... Or The Floorless Coaster Formerly Known as Batman Knight Flight- TFCFKABKF. :)

You know, it makes you wonder if the former management of SFWoA are in the unemployment line considering they just couldn't get this park up to standards (cleanliness, ride efficiency, etc.).

It seems SF left a bad rep in the northern Ohio area.

Thank god the SF in Chicago doesn't follow that same lead.

From my experience living in the general area of the park you are dead on Chitown. Most people I talk to who are non-enthusiasts went once or twice when it was SFWOA and they vowed never to go back. While I never had a horrible time at SFWOA I definately saw very poor operations and plenty of garbage but nonetheless I still always had fun the few times I went.

So far I have been to GL four times this year that is one more time then all the years it was SFWOA. I had a couple of free passes that my mom got from work and I literally had to beg my friends to go with me, thats how bad they remembered it. It turns out that they all had a good time and noticed a lot of the changes, I am not saying it is perfect there now, but if they keep up what they are doing people will start slowly coming back.

And for SFGAM I couldn't agree more, If the Ohio park only ran like that one, I would have frequented much more often. Can't wait for my trip back on 7/15

I was at the park this evening and Steel Venom was closed again. I think the park is doing OK as far as peeps are concerned, but it does seem a little slow too. But the park is clean and the staff is friendly. Major issues the park has needed to overcome, even before Six Flags. So far I'm happy with the changes for the most part, although food prices seem just as high (if not higher), and the new ride names suck.

Wof Kabobs is still closed. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't reopen this year at all. It needs too much work that hasn't even been started yet. They fixed the first drop, but the rest of the first half retracking project hasn't begun yet.

Let's wait until next year now. Remember, the first year of Six Flags was good too. But what happened that second year.......?

Wood Coaster Fan Club

But Cedar Fair isn't Six Flags so the 2nd years could be different.
Madfancp, I am a kid? I guess 22 is still pretty young, though it does make me the 3rd oldest on my crew.

It was neat hearing that you were looking for me at GL, and CP was where you found me. I guess things are like that sometimes. I love Magnum, and folks can usually find me there in the hour(s) leading up to closing, whenever I am at the Point. I'll try to get up there as much as I can on my days off, but I might need to ask for donations for the "Help Sam Buy Gas for Cedar Point Fund."

Anyway, I am happy to hear the positive comments. Don't forget to come and visit me. If you find me, you won't win a prize, but I will at least say Hi. Oh, and one last thing, the guests are great! They make the job FUN!

-Sam

22 1/2 thank you very much!!

Just giving you a hard time. ;) I hope people still call me a kid when I am 22 in a couple of years.

Down is the new up.
Did they post up the new logo's for the coasters yet?

Avalanche Sam,
I'm also 22 and still feel the great power of youth! ;)
The only logos I've seen were on t-shirts and I was not impressed at all and I didn't want to buy one, as for the other rides I havn't seen any new logos posted just signs with the name of the ride which also sucks! :(
