Any opinions on whether the third day would be better spent on an extra day in CP (for $45) or at Geauga Lake (for $25)?
I would definately check it out, they have different styles of coasters than CP like X-Flight, and Dominator, a Flying coaster and Floorless coaster. plus a very intense impulse coaster in Steel Venom. 10 coasters overall, and a total of over 50 rides and attractions. hey, it's all Cedar Fair owned, your just experiencing what else they have to offer.
There is tons to do as the park is quite large considering it is one large facility that wraps around the lake, with a floating boardwalk across the lake that provides some very nice views of the park.
GL isnt a straight shot like CP, it wraps around the lake, so just to give you and idea of the size of GL, If you add in all of the waterpark land, since it is all one park, (including next years phase 2 of the waterpark expansion) take it from around the lake and stretch it out straight, you have about the same size as CP's main park, not including the hotels and challenge park, and not including the Soak City. Just the main portion paid for at the gate.
Now, at GL, when you get to the other side of the lake, it is more theme park, the water park is actually down a little further. they also have new Dino Island Motion Simulator and Robots of Mars 4D adventure over there. and several flat rides.
It is well worth it, as CP and GL compliment each other nicely

i'm not sure what to put here..
I believe, strongly, that everything can be done and satisfied in 2 days at the point, so what better deal than to not only ride different rides, but save money too? I point to GL, but that's just my 2 cents. I hope you're happy with whatever you decide. :)

plus if you go to Geauga Lake the admission is lowered once again to about 19.99 from $26 until the waterpark opens in mid-june becuase of the the construction delay, Geauga Lake seems cheaper and well worth it!
$19.99 sounds almost too good to be true. What's your source?
BTW, if you request the Cedar Point Getaway Guide, you will get a coupon for Geauga Lake ($22.95 for up to 4 people) as well as 6 coupons for $9 off CP Funday tickets, 3 @ 2-for-1 Starlight tickets, and one more for up to 6 people for $3 off Michigan's Adventure tickets. Depending on where you live, they may add another layer to the print job (like a double-cover) with more coupons. Mine has "Special Savings for Canadians", which has 7 @ $12 off CP Funday tickets. Oddly enough, neither Geuaga Lake nor Dorney Park included coupons with their snail-mail brochures.
Good luck with your vacation. We really enjoyed our day at Geauga Lake last year. The day before, we over-extended ourselves at Cedar Point -- we were exhausted. Geauga Lake the following day was nice and relaxing and we rode all of their coasters without ever waiting more than 2 or 3 trains.
GL is great place. if your not out this way alot then definately do GL, if not, you would be missing out on the full blown Cedar Fair experience if you passed up CP's sister park GL. I'm telling you it compliments CP nicely. The coasters at GL are very unique to the ones at CP, and vise versa. both have styles of coasters the other one doesn't. same goes for flat rides, they each have something different. well worth it.
The 19.99 price tag is good til mid june FYI.
In answer to the question. If you get through CP in 2 days, I would go to GL for the 3rd day. For the price you can't go wrong.
We have a package price that includes hotel plus 2 starlight passes and 2 day passes for CP. Very reasonable!
