Geauga Lake coaster names

Given how I feel about beavers must I explain how I now feel about this ride?

mOOSH

That says a lot about 'Beaver Creak' (or is it Creek?) at Blackpool Pleasure Beach... Anyone for TeknoCreek?

Beaver Creek, huh? Something smells fishy...

(SOMEONE had to say it!)

And the testosterone levels rise yet again. Didn't you guys get ANYTHING during the off season? Or is it only coasters that get you off?

As for the names, it doesn't matter to me what they are called. It won't affect my ride experience.

Wait, wait, wait, Tina! Are you trying to convince us that a coaster's name has absolutely nothing to do with how good or bad the ride experience is?

HA!

Next think you'll be trying to convince us that paint colors and theming don't matter, either!

Get real ;)

Calling it Thunderhawk is so-so, but calling it unique???

Second favorite quote:

...virtually vertical with the ground in some segments, experience heart-pounding excitement as X-Flight travels...

You can't be "vertical with the ground." Vertical only goes one way. You can be paralell to the ground. If you really want to be techincal, on Mantis you're vertical with the ground. On X-Flight you'd be more horizontal.

Lastly... so that's where the Swan Boats went.

Hi

Well mijo, if you want to get technical, on Mantis you are perpendicular to the ground. 'Vertical' is not used when relating one position to another. They were just trying to be cute with the alliteration!

Fate is the path of least resistance.

And did anyone else find "Hurricane Hannah's Water Park" extremely hillarious?

The swan boats are going to MiA kpjb...

Why are the names that important?
Because enthusiasts can be idiots and like to complain.

It seems as if Knott's is the only one of the bunch that can only carry on with stylish and catchy names...I mean, with the others, what's with...Orient Express? Those are either just flat-out horrible, corny, too simplistic and general, or just weird sounding.

Some people don't know their history. The Orient Express is a train and was the "star" of a book called Murder on the Orient Express. There was actually a lawsuit filed against WOF for using the name, and I'm sure you can tell who won. Just because it was in the Orient section, doesn't mean they just took the name of the land and attached "Express" to it. You don't see a "Europa Express" anywhere do you? Remember we're WOF not Cedar Point. Also the name Orient Express was around a long time before CF:LP even thought about buying WOF. Also what about original names? Mamba, TimberWolf, Detonator, and now Spinning Dragons? Sure we have Thunderhawk and Boomerang, but where else can you ride the Finnish Fling or Fjord Fjairlane. Obviously someone has never been to WOF or if they have was only interested in the coasters and then leaving.

LOL...excellent point! Especially in the theme of WOF, Orient Express is a great name.

Real Cbuzz quote of the day - "The classes i take in collage are so mor adcanced then u could imagen. Dont talk about my emglihs" - Adamforce
Thunderhawk is a much better name for the SLC.
Head Spin is not bad as well.
Dominator sits as a weird name to me, but it will cling to me.
I don't think I'm any more interested to visit that park. Not yet.
Cedar Point's swan boats went to MiA. Come on, play along at home!

The Orient Express was a relatively slow-moving mode of transportation with enclosed vehicles.

Maybe that should have been the original name for Iron Dragon.

Anyway, using a name from a historical artifact or a piece of entertainment (Murder on the Orient Express was made into a fairly popular movie, too), doesn't automatically make it a good name for a coaster. Especially when the plot of the book and movie revolved around the death of one of the passengers.

That's like naming a Shoot the Chutes ride or a log flume after the Lusitania or the Titanic.

The name Orient Express just didn't convey very well what the coaster was like, even if it was in the Orient section of the park. Steam engines are not associated very often with thrill rides.

Spinning dragons, on the other hand, I think is a very good name, and fits in better with the theme (what little there is). I don't remember much theming in that area other than a shop that sold Oriental knick-knacks and some very cool dragon kites.

Not to turn this into a WoF thread....but I thought the name "Orient Express" fit in VERY well with the theming from the area....MUCH better than Andrew Dice Clay in the Scandinavian area....;) Shame the *ride* of OE wasn't too hot...I was hoping for something more similar to Nessie (i.e., a SMOOTH ride that was fun).

As for the new names at CF:GL....Clint's happy, cause now he has a kiddie coaster named after HIM...for those playing along at home, I have an entire *series* of (Wisdom) rides named after me....isn't THAT ironic? ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

They have really worked on that area and I think it is probably one of the better themed sections of the park now. The architecture is really neat and that is on all 7 buildings. They also have some "japanese trees" there as well as the lights are in the shape of Japanese latterns.

Steam engines aren't often associated with rides...but dragons spin? Hmmm...

Theming aside, the Orient Express name alone is more creative than Spinning Dragons. That's like naming a coaster Rolling Trains. Or Flying Superheroes.

Actually I remember when Dorney had their indoor teacup ride (before Cedar Fair). It had a few themes thru out the years. The one it was called Iceberg and on the inside their was a big ship on the wall with Titanic written on it. *** Edited 4/9/2004 3:37:31 PM UTC by coasterpunk***
