Get ready for plenty of fun this summer on the shores of Geauga Lake. With more than 40 rides and attractions, including eight roller coasters and a massive 17-acre waterpark, Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom has announced details about a wide variety of park improvements for the upcoming season.

Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom will introduce two brand-new shows this summer – the “Magic and Comedy of Tim Hill” and “LEGO Racers.” Located in the Palace Theatre, guests will be treated to the comedic antics and unbelievable magic of Tim Hill. Call him a funny magician or an amazing comedian, either way the audience will leave the show laughing and wondering, “How did he do that?”

In the Harbor Theatre, “LEGO Racers” is a family-friendly movie that will put guests in the middle of the action. Wearing 3-D glasses, moviegoers will feel the excitement as the adventure unfolds around them. Animated race-car-driver Max Axel will race his opponent through a series of challenging terrains. Each time Max and his crew face a difficult situation, teamwork, creativity and imagination save the day.

In addition to the added entertainment, the park will completely renovate a restaurant and will offer two new dining options.

Located in the 1950s section of the park, The Jukebox Café will receive a full make-over from top to bottom. New black-and-white checkered flooring, red parlor-style chairs and booths and new wall coverings and memorabilia will highlight the changes at this family restaurant. The Jukebox Café will feature classic American cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, salads and a build-your-own burger station. As an added treat, kids will be able to enjoy eating meals made just for them and served inside a miniature 1950s-style car.

Aunt Em’s Sandwich Shop, located in Western Village, will feature a wide variety of sandwiches, from subs and Philly cheese steaks to gyros and chicken wraps. Hungry park-goers will be able to pick their own sandwich toppings and combo their selection with a side of french fries and a great dessert.

And, for the first time, the park will offer fried chicken dinners. These family favorite meals will be served at the new Lunch Basket, formerly the Hot Dogger.

For water-lovers, more VIP cabanas will be added to the $30 million Wildwater Kingdom waterpark that opened in 2005. Located adjacent to Tidal Wave Bay, a 390,000-gallon wave pool, the VIP cabanas will include lounge chairs, a table and chairs for dining and full food and beverage service.

“We are very excited about the upcoming season,” stated Bill Spehn, vice president and general manager of Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom. “These new additions and upgrades will not only improve the overall guest experience at Geauga Lake, they also show our commitment to making Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom the perfect summertime family destination.”

The “it” game of 2007 will also be at Geauga Lake this summer! The All-American Cornhole Toss will be similar to horseshoes except wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags are used instead of horseshoes and stakes. Players will win prizes by tossing the most corn bags in the hole or on the platform. The All-American Cornhole Toss will be located in Coyote Creek, across from the 3-Point Challenge game.

Other changes for this summer include new paint jobs on two classic Geauga Lake thrillers, Head Spin and Texas Twister. Three rides, X-Flight, Steel Venom and the Bel Aire Express will be removed from the park. Renamed Firehawk, X-Flight has recently been introduced at Kings Island amusement park near Cincinnati, while Steel Venom will be relocated to another Cedar Fair Entertainment Company park at a later date.

The park will also introduce a smoke-free environment that includes designated smoking areas. The new designated smoking areas will have seating and shade and will be located throughout the park. Smoking will not be allowed outside of those areas or in the waterpark.

Glad to see them not going with the generic Coasters cafe, even though I was fully expecting it. It's the little things (such as keeping the restaurant as Jukebox Cafe) that make parks special. Despite the cool photos, I did not enjoy the one at WOF.

I believe the name of the restaurant in the hotel is called Coasters already. I know the bar is named Amber Waves, ala Knott's Berry Farm Hotel.
I believe the Cornhole idea is actually a good one, because a lot of college students play that game. I find it weird that they just don't keep the Hot Dogger name.

Jukebox Cafe really didn't need the make over, and I also want to know if Villan is still being rehabed and which coaster will feature and on-ride photo.

... yea cause it's basically the beer pong skill set without the alcohol (although alcohol does make it more fun too).

I think their honesty in this press release is great. They're very out in the open about ride removals, you're not just going to walk in next year and not see something and go "huh, wonder where that went?" ... not that the normal park-goer reads press releases, but the info is at least out there for you to find.

And I think it was a great move for fans of the now-removed rides to note that X-Flight is just down the road at PKI and Steel Venom will be popping up somewhere next year. Gets people in the area thinking "Cincinnati isn't that far ... " and watching for where Steel Venom might appear which keeps them somewhat fresh in people's minds.

I like the direction this park is going, I wish them the best, even though with these ride removals, they probably will be getting less of my business (although I'm not really someone they would want in their park anyway ... I don't drop any money ;) )

"Jukebox Cafe really didn't need the make over" haha are you kidding?
Wow, not often do you hear of a park touting upgrading restaurants, paintjobs, and ride removals.

With X-Flight, SV, and the monorail gone, that area of the park is going to be wide open.

The old waterpark is strange to have around but at the same time kind of cool in a historical, abandoned, sick type of way. :)

I actually got a kick out of walking around the old waterpark where they still allowed access.

In terms of a train, Geauga Lake did have one at one time, though not steam. It was similar to the diesel train at Knobels and ran near the Big Dipper. I don't recall exactly when it was removed (it was there the first time I visited, but I don't think the second time, and both of those visits were 20+ years ago)
I think that it is a horrible idea that you are getting rid of the X-Flight, which is my favorite ride there. My friends and I were going to go visit Geauga Lake this summer, but I think that taking the X-Flight and then the Steel Venom out has changed our minds completely. My school even has decided to switch to Cedar Point for our Physics Day. Everyone there thinks that the X-Flight was your best ride there, and since the removal there is no point of going and we will not attend and just go to Cedar Point. In conclusion, removing the X-Flight was a huge mistake and the downfall which will lead to the definate closing of our beloved Geauga Lake.*** This post was edited by Jilly Billy 4/29/2007 9:00:45 PM ***
