GCII updates their Thunderhead page

So Coasterpunk do you actually work in the rolling stock manufacturing trade? That would be a cool job!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

Coasterpunk- each wheel on the MFlyer trains has its own little suspension. It's the trains that keeps the track in such good shape. Lightning Racer has, supposedly, never had a foot of track retracked since it opened.

Which makes them a nice little replacement for those awful little premeirs on SOB.:)

Yes, the first words I ever typed on AIM were.....You Suck!

Yea Thrillerman. I work for GCII outside of Sunbury, PA (where they gave the open house after PPP). It's about 12 miles from my house. I was laid off of my other job and I put in an application with GCII and got hired that night! If I do get a call from my othe employer GCII will work with them for my time. I figured it's a win win situation for me. I get to build Millennium Flyers and keep my normal job (which is usually pretty slow and crappy in the winter).

We get all the parts then Chris and I get to put them all together. I started back at the beginning of December and should stay pretty busy for another month or so.

It's cool knowing that your building cars that are going to be running on Thunderhead and people are going to be riding in them. After a week or so the novelty wears off of working for a coaster company and it's just your basic 9 to 5 job. Everyone there is cool and into their jobs which makes it better than working with a bunch of a-holes who are miserable like I usually do.

c-punk....gator is "green, with envy"...;)

Fantastic job, those trains really are NOTHING short of miraculous....and I do think they'll help keep maintenance costs down a LOT....and improve the ride, since there's no *jolts*.

To your knowledge, has GCI considered building (or even asked to build) trains for coasters other than their own...a ride like TS/TT or Boss would improve a LOT with a train that was better suited to *navigate* the twists and turns...;).

Coasterpunk I look forward to experiencing your handiwork and craftsmanship on Thunderhead's MF's. Will you be at Dollyhood for the grand opening weekend?

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
I may show up for the grand opening (not sure though). I will be there sometime in March before we turn it over to the park doing the last few things to the trains before they get set on the track. I may head to Dollywood with the Coaster Zombies in June not totally sure about that yet though. If I do plan a trip I'll let you know. I'll be at East Coaster in a few weeks though.

Sorry gator. That goes back to what Jeff always says about people who know and don't know. 90% of the time I never know anyway and the other 10% I thought I knew but didn't.

BTW I just saw some pics of the station fly thru at the office. CRAZY! There is only one turn (right before the fly thru) to be set and all the structure for Thunderhead will be up.

Is the fly-thru part just a straight section of track? I'm guessing it's not since this is a GCII coaster. ;)

The bigger they are, the harder they brake
Actually it is straight thru the station. That is about the only straight secton of track on Thunderhead besides the brakes and lifthill.
Well coasterpunk, since you're in the "in crowd" perhaps you can get us some more pictures? ;) Just kidding. Unless you can get some pics...

I've often wondered from time to time, how to write good poetry- and make it all... Work.
*GASP*

One word, AMAZING! and only four hours away! Who woulda thunk? I can't wait to get on this thing!

"The mourning period is over and the only silver lining is that George W Bush is now prohibited by law to run again" Well, at least we have a silver lining
You know this is the next best terrain coaster after...well, Thunderbolt!

Some new pictures on the Dollywood website. They aren't clickable thumbnails, but you can see more views of the progress.

All I have to say is, I can't wait!!! We are going to try to get passes for media day.

ACE/ Southeast has NEW construction photos highlighting the 'fly-thru' station element.

In one photo, you can see the path from Dreamland Forest coming down into the new area-leading me to believe there will be two connections to Thunderhead Gap.

I love the *tag line* on the sign, "The wildest ride in the woods" Excellent!!!

Wood - anything else is an imitation

It will be pretty interesting to see how Thunderhead fits in to the rest of the park. It seems this new area will be very scenic.

Only 2 1/2 Months!

Coasterpunk- Well, then. I stand corrected... sorta. I had no idea you had anything to do with GCI. You are now on my list of the top 10 coolest people currently in the amusement industry. And you are currently at #1 on the list of the top 10 people whose jobs I want!
If your not worried about job security it's a cool job. Basicly when the trains are done I'm done. But thats what I was hired to do and knew it wouldn't last. It beats sitting at home collecting unemployment.
GCII"s Thunderhead page has been updated again. This time pics are of the station flythru.
Thank you for the update coasterpunk TT is going to be one wild of a ride at Dollywood.
Wow.... *drools*

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth. Trip pics are here: http://www.pbase.com/jhbd99.
