GCI coasters overlooked???

I never see Gci coasters in stuff like discovery channels top 10 coasters or any of the top woodies on the golden ticket awards. Gci coasters are over looked...

wait, half of one of the last shows was about Lightning Racer, that's a GCI!

They are overlooked though. I think that for it's size, Roar is one of the best coasters out there.

Well, it might be because there are very few GCI coasters. I think there aren't even 10. I might be wrong.

Edit: There aren't even 10. Only 5 according to RCDB.com.

TrBiggar said it... There simply isn't a lot of GCIs around, and there was a special looking at the construction of Lightning Racer on the Discovery Channel.

Too many CCI coasters are on discovery. I don't mean to be mean, theyre great but i don't see any Gci on the top 10 coasters. I think the discovery channels top 10 coasters was a bit weird too. Steel force was on it which is like magnum and i didn't see any sfmm coasters.
Is Gci a lot newer then Cci?

Just because they have the "most" coasters, doens't mean they are the best. I hear bad things all the time about the woodies. Then there is a suspended, a inverted clone, Flashback... a couple kiddies, a mine train, a megalooper, thats about it (for whats running). Nothing world class except Goliath.

And CCI is so publisized because they have 31 coasters, more than 6 times the number of GCI.

Yeah Sfmm needs a new woodie I posted that a few months ago in my other account. I wish Sfmm got Roar, they could just demolish Psyclone or Collosus for "Roar"
Roar is the 2nd woodie i have been on.... I first went on collosus which was the worst coaster i've ever been on. No Banked turns, No padded seats, Rough, Slow.... Then I went on Roar... I first expected it to be another rough woodie. Instead It lived up to my expectations. That was the only ride i cared about at sfmw.

thats the site.. Yeah they only have 5 coasters
:( The trains that were on Roar and all the other Gci rides were the Millenium Flyer trains. Those trains are sweet. Another reason why roar was great is because the millenium flyer trains were heavily padded not like some woodies which have no padding.
No, the Millennium Flyer trains are not on all of the GCI's. I've ridden three of their creations (Lightning Racer, Wildcat, and Roar East), and only one of them, LR, has the MF trains. In fact, I think it's the only coaster with the Millennium Flyer trains.

Roar west has been blessed with the fantastic Millennium Flyer trains. Of the 4 different woodie trains I've ridden, they are easily my favorite.

SFMW's Roar is one amazing ride, quite possibly the best wooden coaster in all of California. I would easily trade SFWoA's Villain and Raging Wolf Bobs for one of these GCI creations and I wouldn't care if it's an exact clone.

Long live GCI and the Millennium Flyer trains, quite possibly the best trains for a wooden coaster.

Is it better then Ghost Rider? ( I haven't been on it but roar is my favourite coaster)

To bad rollercoasters are for life!

It's unfortunate that GCI hasn't gotten much business lately. Wooden coaster building has been slow in the states in the last two years in general, especially given the amount of competition in the field (CCI, Intamin, RCCA, Coaster Works, Vekoma...) After a building frenzy in the late 90s, there's bound to be a shakedown. GCI makes fine rides, it'd be a shame if they have to fold because of this slump. *** This post was edited by Fierce Pancake on 7/30/2001. ***
GCI has built 5 coasters in the past 6 years. CCI has the ability to build 5 coasters in one year. I'm assuming GCI just has one group of staff that's at the construction site the whole time. CCI probably has many more employees, and therefore, they can spread out.

Of the CGI coasters I've been on (Wildcat, Gwazi) I could take them or leave them. But, those don't have the Millennium Flyer trains, and I think those trains make it much more comfortable since there are no two-bench seats.

Nah, ROAR-west has them too. Anyway I've been on four (or 6) of the five (or 7) GCI coasters. I've liked all of them a lot with ROAR-east being thre best IMO, but LR was the most "sh*ts and giggles" fun. They are all pretty good, but I think there are three CCI's better (The Legend, Raven, Villian). But they all rock!

jeremy
(NOTE: the difference in numbering is in case you count LR as 2 coasters and Gwazi as 2 coasters. ROAR-west is the only GCI I have yet to ride.)
editor's note, sorry I can count :)

CCI alone has built 9 coasters in North America (8 US, 1 Mexico) within the past two years. I hardly consider that slow.
