Gay Day at PKI

This happens everytime we talk about Homosexuality. And it gets really annoying. No one on this website should have to prove if they are gay or not. Like this....

MikeMir87 Said:

I know, If i were gay, (which im not) i could be asking so we could meet up and hang out, why do some people always jump to stereotypical remarks, and racial slurs.

Why should you have to tell someone if you are or aren't. It seems you are a little afraid of people thinking you are gay.

Well, I will say this and then leave the topic alone~

Again, I understand the desire to have any day to celebrate the diversity of the human race, but then again, I feel the problem with the human race is we can't just leave it alone. I don't care if people think I am gay or not, but Gay Day at a park is like putting a bigger target on a person who already has a stigma as it is (or at least carries the burden of that possibility). It's like announcing to the potential a**holes and bashers, "hey, here we are...now's your chance to kick our ass." .... and sadly, to a few sad sacks, it happens. I don't think a Gay day is a bad thing. I think it is special to be strong in what you believe in regardless of your differences, sexual or religious. I just don't see the need to announce it. I am a Christian, but I don't run to Christian days at any park. I don't see the point. My belief is enough. In fact, I bet most of you didn't even know...but it shouldn't matter anyway. Who cares? I don't.... I don't have to flaunt it. And heck yeah, do I get enough flack for being a CHRISTIAN....? Of course........:)
that said, flame away.

Rob-sai - I'm under the impression that some of the "gay days" aren't even official park events, but are "informal" days out at the park organized by local groups.

Gay Days nowadays at PKI are arranged through our local Cincinnati Gay and Lesbian Community Center. In the early years, we would have an unofficial day which we all know was the first Sunday in June. I'm glad to see that PKI and our community center can set up a date and advertise it as Pride Night at PKI so everyone knows what is going on. If you want to go and save $5, purchase your tickets online at http://www.kqweekend.com, or you can buy the tickets at the gate and not save $5. I actually like Pride Night because you don't have to wait for hours to ride your favorite rides. :-)
