GameWorks: :), :|, :<

GameWorks was above par today. But it also annoyed me.

DDR pleased me ( :) ). They got a new game and also the were well- placed (no lines).

The staff annoyed me ( :| ). At the Vertical Reality game the lady working it was poor. She didn't mark her cycle/ fault log and she held up the line (talking).

DDR made me mad ( :< ). DDR extreme had a broken left button on the left pad. No staff member knows this.

But it was ABOVE par. They have a new feature. (I'm not sure how new, I haven't been there in 15 months or more.) You can stop your card from wasting time when you have to wait for DDR (or anything else for that matter) by freezing it. You go to the front desk, swipe through the freezer, and your card will resume as soon as you play. Made me very happy. One hour became two!

So I suggest if you haven't, got to GameWorks and get your DDR fill!

You do realize there is more than one GameWorks, right?

I hate the Gameworks in Columbus. They play the house music so loudly that you can't hear the DDR music. And it costs something like $1.75 for 3 songs.

To make it even more frustrating, it's the only Extreme on the north side that's fully unlocked. So someone on staff cares enough to enter the codes, but not enough to turn down the house music, or turn up the machine volume. Hmph.

Oh sorry Jeff. I did know that. I must not have realized I should have put in I was at the Schaumburg (Chicago) one.

One more :< is that the Maxflight 2002 (virtual roller coaster) harnesses are practically steel and electrical tape.an your legs fly EVERYWHERE.

And I'll add that the Columbus GW more often than not smells like vomit, due to the mixture of alcohol and the Maxflight 2002.

Well as I said in another thread, my opinion of GW Columbus shot up a couple of weeks ago, due to them unlocking all the songs on the DDR Extreme, cranking the volume, maintaining the pads very well and offering really good deals on time cards.

I went last week and my opinion plummeted again. I guess it wasn't GW's fault, but the machine was absolutely swarming with teenagers. There were two nice guys who looked to be "pros" (i.e. writing down scores and taking screen photos), but the rest were really rude, profane and pushy, cutting in line, etc.

What's worse, the ones who weren't playing DDR were playing Guitar Freaks, so I couldn't play my second-favorite game, either. I was there for like 3 hours and played 3 games of DDR. The only good thing is that all the kids had timed cards, and after every song they would all slide their cards, so no one had to pay for any games, and there were 25 credits on the machine at one point.

Anyway, I'm never going to GW again in the evening.

btw, AMC Lennox theaters near the Ohio State campus has a DDRMAX2 now.
