Funtown Fest 8/19 – ACE event

The weather looked promising, so I decided to make the trip to Saco, Maine after catching up with a fellow ACEr who said he was going rain or shine.

Set alarm clock for 3:15 am. Left Brookfield, CT at 4:00 am. Saco is about 250 miles. Pulled into the parking lot at 8:00 am.

One of park managers was pouring oil into the chain reservoir, and shortly after they started sending the trains out.

After meeting with a few people and paying, we started the walk back. The station house looks great with the King Arthur theming. Nicely marked queue lines.

ERT started at 9:00 am. Managed to get 18 rides in before the general public started to filter in. Walked down to get something to drink, got on Galaxi and the bumper cars, grabbed a dog and fries, then back to Excalibur. Every ride seemed better than the previous.

The ride ops were getting into the fun and enjoyed the teasing from the group. I was enjoying Excalibur so much, that I think it was infectious. One of the ride ops kept trying to fill all the seats just for a challenge, and kept looking for me whenever he had an open seat. Worked out really well for me, getting up to 52 rides in before 10:00 pm.

Nighttime ERT blended right in with no wait. They turned the lights out, except for the loading platform. Started double rides, and at the end, let us go for a third ride.

I NEVER THOUGHT A DAY COULD GO SO WELL …
…70 rides on a great coaster. Great ride ops.

Left the park at midnight, gassed up, grabbed a bite at Wendy's, drove back to CT and pulled in the driveway at 4:00 am.

Not bad for a Day Trip, eh? *** This post was edited by coaster ed on 8/24/2000. ***
I was hoping some Excalibur or CCI fans would see this post and give some feedback about 70 rides in one day.

I thought this was one of my best coaster days ever, and disappointed not to have some replies.
That sounds like a lot of fun. Not too many people make it up to Maine, but Excalibur is great! Among some other fun rides are Galaxi Coaster, Astrophere, and the Log Flume. I think I've been on Excalibur a total of 7 times.
