Right now I am planning a fly in one day fly out the next from LAX to Cleveland (CLE) for CP next year. Is Cleveland the best airport to fly into?
Also what hotel do you suggest to stay at, at CP?
Thanks!
Spongebob...I recommend the Radisson. I got a hella good deal plus its not too far away.
What is the closest major airport to CP, and how long is the drive from there? Also how long are the drives from CP to SFWOA, and from CP to PKI?

The closest major airport would be in Cleveland. Cedar Point is about (keyword about) an hour from SFWoA, and probably a good 3-4 hours to PKI.

jada: being 19 is going to be difficult on you. My *best* suggestion is, if you have a credit card in your name, to take Amtrak/Grehound into Sandusky and stay at the Breakers/Sandcastle Suites/Lighthouse Point/Camper Village (but NOT Breakers Express). This way you can take a taxi from the train/bus station to the hotel/campground and use Cedar Point's shuttles to get to and from the park. Then hop another taxi back to the train/bus station. I'm *pretty* sure that doing that will be the cheapest with all the "baby taxes" that rental car companies like to tack on.
One cavet though, I've *heard* that Cedar Point does not like to give rooms out to people under 21. But what I *dont* know is how adamantly they enforce this rule. Now I look pretty young depending on the clothes I'm wearing (I often get carded in liquor stores though I'm 26), but I've never been to a hotel where they "carded" me. You *may* want to risk it, you *may* not. Just letting you know up front.
BTW: If for some reason you *dont* have a credit card in your name, I'm not really sure *what* you should do. I dont think I've ever reserved a hotel room w/o a card. Though I think you can prepay or leave deposits some places.

I can make it from just outside Rochester, NY to CP in around 3-4 hours.
Whoa - how fast do you drive? It takes me about 4.5 hours from RIT's Henrietta campus. It's something like 315 miles so you'd have to be booking to make it in under 4 hours.

Take the Lake Shore Limited train 49 from Penn Station to Sandusky, You can get tickets on Amtraks Rail Sail site for around 50 each way in coach. The train would leave in the Afternoon and arrive in Sandusky before dawn.

I would suggest flying into Cleveland. It's about an hour drive from there. But my question to you is why would you make this trip and not even stay a full day at the park if you're flying across the country? I make it a 3 day event in case of bad weather or exceptionally large crowds.

To answer your original question, yes, there is a bus that goes from NYC to Sandusky, OH. I looked it up for you on greyhound.com. It is schedule 1315, departs NYC at 8:30pm and arrives in Sandusky at 8:05am the next day. Cost for a round trip ticket is $189.
$189 for a 12-hour bus ride?!? Surely you could find a 1-hour flight for about that cost.
EDIT: On Travelocity, I just found flights from NYC to Cleveland for $164. That leaves enough money for a cheap rental car, and saves 11 hours...

I'm down in Honeoye Falls, just south of you about 15 minutes, but it puts me in prime condition to jump on route 20 and haul ass all the way to buffalo with basically no law inforcement. hehe :-D
