hey every one. my name is adrian im 19 and i live in the south bronx. recently i have decided i want to take a trip to cedar point. i would like to know if any one knows about a bus trip that runs from New York to the park or some other way a person with no car could get there all suggestions would be appriciated.

You could obviously take a plane. I'm sure there's public transportation once you're at the airport.

Right now I am planning a fly in one day fly out the next from LAX to Cleveland (CLE) for CP next year. Is Cleveland the best airport to fly into?

Also what hotel do you suggest to stay at, at CP?

Thanks!

from cleveland it is still a drive to sandusky, i dunno if there are shuttles, and if you have to rent a car why not just drive? the drive from MI to NYC is about 9 hours(i do it frequently), and CP is about 1.5 hours from me twards NY, so you have about an 8 hour trip by car, not bad at all! (this post will get deleted by the mods becuase my trip times are just rumour\speculation and not comforied by any parks, right?)
Ahhh....another Bronx head up in here. It took me 8 hours flat to drive from My house to the hotel we stayed at in Sandusky. But since you are not driving, that perhaps means nothing to you. You could also check out Greyhound. They are scrambling for business so you can find some good deals. I take it you used to take NJ Transit to Great Adventure....been there :)

Spongebob...I recommend the Radisson. I got a hella good deal plus its not too far away.

What is the closest major airport to CP, and how long is the drive from there? Also how long are the drives from CP to SFWOA, and from CP to PKI?

I'm sitting shiva for CCI.

We drove from the bronx to cedar point. It took 8 hours, including stoping for lunch.
I can make it from just outside Rochester, NY to CP in around 3-4 hours.

The closest major airport would be in Cleveland. Cedar Point is about (keyword about) an hour from SFWoA, and probably a good 3-4 hours to PKI.

How far is Cedar point from the cleveland airport in drivng time?

Stich, I made it in just about an hour. It's likely closer to 1.5hrs, but I tend to speed often. Either case, it's a very short ride (relatively speaking).

jada: being 19 is going to be difficult on you. My *best* suggestion is, if you have a credit card in your name, to take Amtrak/Grehound into Sandusky and stay at the Breakers/Sandcastle Suites/Lighthouse Point/Camper Village (but NOT Breakers Express). This way you can take a taxi from the train/bus station to the hotel/campground and use Cedar Point's shuttles to get to and from the park. Then hop another taxi back to the train/bus station. I'm *pretty* sure that doing that will be the cheapest with all the "baby taxes" that rental car companies like to tack on.

One cavet though, I've *heard* that Cedar Point does not like to give rooms out to people under 21. But what I *dont* know is how adamantly they enforce this rule. Now I look pretty young depending on the clothes I'm wearing (I often get carded in liquor stores though I'm 26), but I've never been to a hotel where they "carded" me. You *may* want to risk it, you *may* not. Just letting you know up front.

BTW: If for some reason you *dont* have a credit card in your name, I'm not really sure *what* you should do. I dont think I've ever reserved a hotel room w/o a card. Though I think you can prepay or leave deposits some places.

Whoa - how fast do you drive? It takes me about 4.5 hours from RIT's Henrietta campus. It's something like 315 miles so you'd have to be booking to make it in under 4 hours.

Take the Lake Shore Limited train 49 from Penn Station to Sandusky, You can get tickets on Amtraks Rail Sail site for around 50 each way in coach. The train would leave in the Afternoon and arrive in Sandusky before dawn.

I would suggest flying into Cleveland. It's about an hour drive from there. But my question to you is why would you make this trip and not even stay a full day at the park if you're flying across the country? I make it a 3 day event in case of bad weather or exceptionally large crowds.

To answer your original question, yes, there is a bus that goes from NYC to Sandusky, OH. I looked it up for you on greyhound.com. It is schedule 1315, departs NYC at 8:30pm and arrives in Sandusky at 8:05am the next day. Cost for a round trip ticket is $189.

$189 for a 12-hour bus ride?!? Surely you could find a 1-hour flight for about that cost.

EDIT: On Travelocity, I just found flights from NYC to Cleveland for $164. That leaves enough money for a cheap rental car, and saves 11 hours...
