Friendly Staff

Having just completed a two week tour of the eastern USA visiting 19 theme parks I would just like to say a big 'Thank You' to the staff at Holiday World. No wonder they were once again voted Friendliest Park Staff. Everyone from Gate Admission to ride operators all had a smile on their face. Dollywood deserved to be second. The ride despatchers on Thunderhead were fantastic - the best on the whole two week visit. Knoebels and Indiana Beach staff were also friendly.

Finally I have to mention Cedar Point - voted 4th Friendliest Staff Park. Two of the staff there were quite rude and ignorant to me and I was really upset by their attitude. This is my third visit to Cedar Point and every time something has marred my visit. 2002 Coastermania - no Wicked Twister, 2003 Coastermania - no Top Thrill Dragster - August 2004 - staff attitude. I vowed last time I would never visit again, but now having ridden Top Thrill Dragster I have no need to return. Is it because they consider themselves to be the No. 1 Theme Park that some of their staff are rude and arrogant?

I am in my early sixties and have visited every major theme park in USA and UK and would have expected to be treated with some respect, not so at Cedar Point I am afraid to say.

Dollywood does try hard. Im surprised it wasn't included in the Best Food category.

Pardon our dust...Signature is building for your future enjoyment!

I think CP has some of the rudest staff of any park I've ever been to. Not to mention that the Mantis crew always looks like they're ready to kill someone. They're even worse than long lines to make my trip not so fun. Luckily they have a couple good coasters and I have friends that live up there or I wouldn't come back as often. ;)

My favorite staff has been at Dollywood, Holiday World, and Hershey in that order.

^^ Waaaaa! Complaining about attitudes, yes. Complaining about coasters being down, NO!

It sounds like you were looking for something wrong at The Point, even though I do agree that a Mantis op could rip your head off at any given point in the day.

I'd rather have indifferent staff that I find at most SF parks than the rudeness I've seen at CP... Or ride ops talking about how they let their dildos ride on Wildcat and they don't fall off until they hit the brakes. *rolls eyes*

There has been some discussion at pointbuzz this season about the impression that CP guests get form the staff. I've seen mostly indifferent, some good, no real rude, but others have not been nearly so lucky. I would not call the operations folks overly friendly.

But do they dress them up like little people with shirts, hair, faces, etc?

Because if they do, then that's good fun. But if they just let bare dildos ride, that's just lazy.

I wonder how friendly they are to the dildo-american riders? (not implying racism in any way :) )

Well, I wasn't really upset with them until one of the MF ops practically thrusted his hand at the lap bar into one of my girlfriend's lap/stomach area and she yelled and asked him to loosen it and he said, "I don't care. You're already locked in."

Even a simple, "I'm sorry. We have to keep the trains moving along" would have gone over a lot better with me. And no, we didn't go to Guest Relations, because she/we got over it and we didn't want to take any more time out of our day. I really don't like to go to GR unless it's *really* ruining my day. That stuff is just something I'm going to watch for and see that it doesn't continually happen.

Gonch, I agree. That's what I was most upset about is that they didn't send the dildos out with a bang. At least have enough respect to dress them up or put a little gravy on them. :)

I agree about Cedar Point ride ops. Most are fast as hell but they seem to have this constant look on their face that they don't hate their job, but that they hate you and they are better than you.

I like the MF crew FAR better than the Magnum. This year the MF crew hasn't been as fast, especially because of the new seatbelt policy, BUT they were extremely friendly. My friend was irritating one of them, and he kept saying "Hey it's Carl! Whats up?" he said it over and over again. I told him to stop, he didn't. All carl did was wave to us and tell us to enjoy our ride and he smiled.

I realize that ride ops have to put up with alot of s**t from guests but so do most other people and their jobs. Even the other operators on MF this year were very nice.

I work at McDonalds (I'm only 15, and luckily it's not my career) and I get treated like s**t by people all day long, all summer long. People refuse to pay for extra salad dressing, they complain about this and that, and they say mean things to me and try to make me feel bad.

Even so I don't treat them with disrespect. I tell EVERYONE to have a good day. And the fact that the ride ops think they have the hardest job in the world is wrong. They may be underpaid, but so are a lot of jobs.

I think expecting shirts hair and faces on dildos is asking too much....however, I would have expected at least a (jimmy) hat. You *do* want to keep the dildo safe dont you?

Okay, who crossed the line first?

Guess who's back? Back Again? James K's back. Tell a friend.

Whoever left their dildo on the line and didn't pick it up after using it. :)

Of course, if you make a trip to the "petting zoo" at 3:30 PM and you have another date at 8, what time should you have it at the dry cleaners by? Beats me.

If you're really in a pinch, I heard it's OK to hand wash your dildo.

As much as I love HW, I have to say, Dollywood has the nicest employees ever. The gift shop ladies and my mom exchange emails. :) *** Edited 9/9/2004 11:03:02 PM UTC by dawnmarie313***

*One* of your girlfriends? My gosh, how many do you have now? You're starting to make Dawn and me feel second rate! ;) *** Edited 9/9/2004 11:20:32 PM UTC by Kristin Marie***

You will forever be the girl that's miles apart yet always in my heart. ;)

+Danny, you too Dawn- I'll keep you deep inside =p

How can you *not* always be in my heart after our bonding experience on Deja Vu? I wouldn't have wanted to experience "Terror in the Skies" with anyone but you, +Danny. ;)

Awww, I wouldn't want to get my ears bashed in and grey out with anyone other than you either. :)

I'm glad it is not just me that notices the issues with CP staff. When I find rude staff at other parks, it is an "I don't care" attitude. At CP it is "you're an idiot and I can't be bothered to be polite." It is not even close to all of them, but there is enough that I see it a few times every trip.

As for the friendliest, it is hard to pick just one, but Dollywood really impressed me on my trip. HW is right up there too and the ops at Adventureland also worthy of consideration for the "friendliest award"...if such a thing can be judged.

With all respect to HW, it is pretty tight but I think the staff at Dollywood is just a bit more friendly. They actually appear to be happy to be of service to you.
