FORCE HIM TO go ON! And threaten him if he says no!

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone

My girlfriend doesnt like them either. Her first one was this year, Rolling Thunder actaully. She says she didnt feel good before but she doesnt seem to interested to use her season pass again. My point is if you find out how to make them ride let me know.

Unless they are your child, there really is no way to *force* someone to ride a coaster (of course someone will complain that forcing a child on a coaster is abuse, blah blah *yawn*...)

Seriously though, all you can do is tell them it's safe, show em some videos and assure them that you'll start em off slow (like with a mine train or something). Basically, they'll come around or they wont. Everybody has limits on what they "wont do", perhaps coasters is hers/his. Dont even make a big deal out of it.

Does your friend "NOT LIKE" them, or are they "AFRAID" of them. The thrill of the rollercoaster IS the fear, in most cases. Tell them to Face their fear and get on the ride. It is one of the safest recreational activities you can do. On the other hand, if they have ridden plenty and they just don't care for them, then there's nothing you can do. It's like somebody trying to make you eat something you don't like to eat.

In fact, when I was younger, my Mom took me to Disneyland. I was SO afraid of rollercoasters that I REFUSED to go on Matterhorn, Space Mountain and Big Thunder. After facing my fear a few years later, I became addicted to rollercoasters. What was I thinking? Those Disney rides are some of the tamest rollercoasters available. To this day, I regret not riding them. I myself have gone on to ride them many many times over the last fifteen+ years or so. But my Mom never got the opportunity then, and is not in the same shape or riding condition she once was. I feel that I personally deprived her of a wonderful experience because i was "AFRAID".

I always ask people who don't like coasters why they don't. Usually I find that they don't really have a clear answer, they just simple don't like them. The best way I have found to get people to ride coasters is to tell them that coasters are safe and fun. Sometimes take them on a coaster simulator, if you have the money.

There is no force like Millennium Force!

Look, I'll tell you someone else told me on a previos thread that I started.

Start them off with a small ride and move on to a bigger ride each time. Havnt tried it yet but it sound logical. It works when teaching someone to shoot a proper jumpshot in basketball, shoot close and move back. I am not sure who gave the advice, thanks whoever it was

Roller Coasters or sports? I guess there are questions nobody can answer!

Talk him into riding MF,it's the perfect starter coaster. After a smooth not to overpowering ride like that you'll have him shaking his head and saying that was nothing.

Similar story here. I rode a few coasters at PKD when I was in my early 20s and hated them all. I was completely terrified, and that was just stuff like the woodies, much less any of the steel. Now, though, times have changed and I'm a hopeless coaster nut. I just came to a point in my life where I felt that it was something I wanted to try. I was going through a difficult divorce and needed something to make me feel free and scream my head off. My first looping coaster was Alpengeist. I never looked back. Alpy always has a special place in my heart as my favorite coaster. My only regret is that I didn't start riding sooner (I'm 36 now), but I do look forward to riding for many many years to come. What got me on Alpy in the first place? I wanted to ride but felt I never could. Then I asked myself, "What the heck is stopping you?". Then my friend told me, "Ride it and if you hate it then don't ever ride it again, but at least you can say you tried it." That sold me. And it worked too.
