Freestyling sucks

OK, I've always had a neutral opinion toward freestyling, but I had never seen a full-on freestyle until Saturday night.

This dude playing 5th mix at Magic Mountain was playing some *easy* light song (the kind of song where there's only one arrow on the screen at a time). Yet he's jumping around like an idiot, off the pad, leaping over the bar, etc. He even did a matrix walk (which is where you hold onto the bar and kick off of the screen, and is frowned upon by the DDR community because it breaks machines). He stepped on my foot a couple of times, even though I kept moving farther away from him.

The funny thing was, I looked around at the crowd, and many more people were watching the guy playing next to him on Trick. Ha-ha.

Anyway, the good news is that 5th mix is awesome.... I'd never played it before. The frame rate is as good as the new mixes, and all the old favorites are there, plus a ton of songs I've never played before.

yeah, I dislike freestyling too, accept for the rare occaision that u find someone who is actually good at it. I'm kind of new and only have DDR Konamix on PS1, the best song I can beat is Paranoia rebirth on standard, I think it's hard but I've seen people pass much better. and I think it's funny that a guy would freestyle on one of those easy songs (easy for some, difficult to some people new at it i guess). I can't wait to get the courage to play at an acrade.

Never tried freestyling before, or seen anyone else do it, but..

Fifth mix rocks! It has so many awesome songs that aren't on any other mixes. Moonlight Shadow, Dancing All Alone, Dancing Pompokolin, God of Romance etc. It's just too bad that most of them aren't that difficult on Heavy.

I've yet to see anyone freestyle that didn't look like a complete tool. I mean come on... you generally look pretty stupid playing DDR in the first place! :)
