Freefall Rides And Lightning

I was at PKI on Thursday and Friday. Drop Zone wasn't working on Thursday. When I rode it on Friday, I asked one of the workers what was wrong with it and he said the it had been hit by lightning on Wednesday. I was just wondering if this happens very often with freefall rides.

Sure. It happens on any tall structure. Freefall rides are no different. In fact, I've personally seen Power Tower get struck twice, and DZ once.

Usually, this won't screw up the ride (they do have lightning rods). However, lightning is by no means predictable and can cause problems for rides. I remember last year I visited SFWOA and BKF was down because a lightning strike messed up the chain motor.

I was at Sfwoa and that happened to B:kf lol. Either we went the same day or it happened more then once.

I know that Millennium Force go struck by lightning in it's opening season.
