This sounds like it could become a pretty crowded affair.
Perfect time for a Gold Q-bot if you ask me :)

^If only they were limited in number, huh? ;)

^LOL! the last time I was there the Q-Bot line was a longer wait than some of the rides!

If you read the fine print at the bottom, it says that they're planning on running this through March 30th or whenever tickets run out. But it looks like they've already given away all the tickets for Saturday and Sunday. Good luck making it till the end of the day!

EDIT (approx. three minutes later): I stand corrected...they ARE all gone! Glad I got in there quick! :)

It said that there all gone yesterday too but this morning I got 2 tickets so they must be giving out a number of tickets each day. Try again tommorrow and see if they have tickets
How fitting... Opening Saturday is April 1. You would have to be a fool to go there on OPENING DAY when they are GIVING AWAY FREE TICKETS.

I like a bargain as much as the next person... but I also like my sanity.

"Yes... well... VICTORY IS MINE!"
Anyone know how many people visit the park on any given day?

A day at the park is what you make it!

I don't think it will be too packed. If the tickets were equally distributed for each day, that's 15,000 extra tickets a day. Lots of people signed up without realizing it was just for Great Adventure (I saw it was posted on deal sites besides coaster sites), and some people probably aren't going to use the tickets. Since it was totally free, people probably signed up just in case they want to go since there is no loss/risk for someone to request the tickets and not use them.

I don't think the rides will be walk ons like it supposedly is on opening day/weekend but I don't think the lines will be horrible either (probably 30 - 45 minutes for most rides, Kingda Ka excluded) *** Edited 3/16/2006 1:30:56 AM UTC by YoshiFan***

So this is only good for opening day? Im going on April 8th which is the weekend after. I thought about going on opening day, but after this, it sounds like it is going to be ridiculously packed.
It's for opening day (Friday March 31st) and then the Saturday and Sunday After that
I go to Great Adventure on Opening Day every year and it's usually dead. I predict this year to be more of the same, even with the free tickets (which could be very limited in number and more of a positive viral marketing thing). A lot of people who are getting these tickets will probably let them go to waste.

Of course if it's 70* and absolutely beautiful like it was this over this passed weekend, then it might be a different story, but Opening Day is usually more like 30-40º and windy/rainy (just the way I like it!). :P

We'll see. Either way a nice move by SF.

Why can't Sis Flags just have their new coasters operating by opening day :( *** Edited 3/16/2006 6:51:48 AM UTC by Geewhzz***

This pissed me off. While filling out the form it did NOT state one word that this giveaway was only open for residents of the US. It accept my postal code. When i was about to print them, i had to select a state. There was no option for Canadian provinces and you could not change your country. This is a bummer cuz now theres 2 free admissions to a killer park gone. I still printed them out but i put OH instead of ON. I wonder if it will work. Im not planning on going to opening day but im planning on usuing those safari tickets later in the summer when i visit. I wonder if it will work... i doubt it thought, and what makes this worse is SF is a company with CANADIAN, AMERICAN and MEXICAN Parks and this giveaway should be open to all the regions they serve. Either that or just make it a giveaway for people who live within 300 miles of the park.

I couldn't agree with you more. My friends and I have a tradition of going to opening and closing weekends at the local parks, and we absolutely hate to see good weather on those days. The more clouds the better!

Yep. I always say the best weather for a park (which GAdv.'s opening is almost always) is abou 40*, overcast with a little spittle. Not too uncomfortable, but keeps everyone else away.
