Four year-old boy hurt on Disney dark ride

Posted | Contributed by Soggy

Friday night at about 10:15 p.m. a young boy either fell out, or wiggled his way out of the spinning car. The car behind him "ran over" the boy and was dragged several feet before the ride came to a complete stop.

Sounds like they need invidual lapbars that adjust to smaller passengers.
I hope hes alright!
I believe the article said he was four years old. My question is: where were his parents, and why was he allowed on without an adult. I've been on this ride and there's no way I'd let a four year old on, unless he was REALLY big for his age.

Dutchman, actually the boy's mother was in the car with her son. Some fingers are pointing to the single lap bar that covers 2 riders. The bar will only go down as far as the largest rider (in this case the parent) allowing plenty of room for a 4 year old to crawl around and under.

The LA Times has been doing quite a few followup stories on this case, here are a few, if interested...

Gotta ride 'em all!

Wow Woodstock exprees at Cedar Point is a kiddy coaster where a parent can ride and there is individual seat belts and a lapbar but you never know if a kid would squeeze out of there.

I don't see why his mom didn't hold him if it was loose on him or, at least watch him. Even if it was dark she could at least see him a little bit. (at least enough to see him)
