Here's a tough job: Get a newspaper and a park PR rep to get you on every ride in the park for review. That's what four people did at Paramount's Kings Island. The big surprise is that there was only one that scored perfect by all of the judges: Flight of Fear. It seems that you don't have to be a coaster enthusiast to know that the removal of over-the-shoulder restraints (OTSR's) and installation of lap bars made the ride something special.
Read the whole review, with all of the scores, from The Cincinnati Enquirer.
See... I told you that the Flight of Fear modification would get it noticed. That's a pretty strong statement considering the company the coaster has at that park.

Atleast they were honest... They gave the rides not perfect ratings, but ok ratings. You would think they would all be 5.0's because the PR acompanied them around the park and gave them no wait rides.

Georgia Scorcher...OH yeah it's fire baby!!!
Did anyone notice the comment made about the Flying Eagles? If not, I'll post here for everyone to read:
"You control your flight; soar high; fly low; snap the cables."
Notice they say "SNAP THE CABLES". This is really cool, since the two times I've been to PKI they do let us do this, but on my 2nd visit (the ride op must have been new) got all in this panic and thought the ride was going to come crashing down. She called maintaince before the ride had ended. After getting off, I passed one of the maintance people on the way over (which, by the way, was really funny...they were in NO hurry to get over there), and one said to the other "Yup...another worried ride Op over at the eagles".
I would think that since this is normal operation for the ride, that PKI would tell the ride ops not to panic when this happends?
Just a suggestion to the folks at PKI. No need waisting the maintaince peoples time walking over to check something that is normal operation.

Neat article. It's nice to read a TR from someone on the outside (ie GP).

I am a roller coaster FIEND!
Okay since when did Drop Zone Stunt Tower become the tallest free-fall in the world...
Never mind. I got it now. The results were surprising though. They were mean to the train and the tower. Who knew Smash Factory was open yet? And I'm glad some people like SOB just like me. It must have been one of his good days. Overall, I think the ratings were pretty fair and accurate.
Wow, they sure liked Face-off. I guess this shows that parks are justified in building boomerang type rides. The GP sure likes 'em.
I loved the new FOF. The ride still has poor second half pacing as far as the inversions are concerned. Great Ride Though.

Kraxel, since when has Drop Zone not been the tallest gyro drop tower in the World. It's not the tallest freefal which would go to STE or TOT probobly. I don't know exactly how far each drop though.
Yeah Giant Drop @ Dreamworld in Australia is the tallest at about 380 ft (right Taipan?) S:TE and ToT dont count 'cause they are a type of ride not generally considered a freefall....

jeremy
--hint, two words rhymes with bowler boaster....
Giant Drop @ Dreamworld is a freefall ride, where they pull you up a tower, then just drop you down (kinda like a Turbo Drop, only without being blasted down). Drop Zone is a Gyro Drop ride. Giant Drop @ Dreamworld is the tallest Giant Drop, while Drop Zone is the tallest Gyro Drop. S:TE is the taller that ToT, making it the tallest reverse freefall. Supreme Scream is the tallest Turbo Drop ride, and I'm pretty sure that the two Space Shot towers on Power Tower @ CP are the tallest Space Shots. Just wanted to clear up the drop ride thing.

Life is like a coaster---
You go up, down, turn-around, and upside-down...and then there's all that pressure on your head, too...

That's correct 2Hostyl. I enjoyed reading the article, most refreshing. As the team said, I'd like to see them do the same at CP which has the most rides in the world. Does CP have the most adult rides in the world?
Edit: Hmm, Mr. G-lix beat me to it. Correct again except S:TE & ToT are of the exact same dimensions, just that S:TE sits higher above the ground.

The Drop Zone is the tallest free standing freefall ride.
The Giant Drop @ Dreamworld is built onto the side of the ToT shuttle coaster...........
It's a nearly identical structure! So what if both go up the same tower. The Giant Drop is the largest.

I think that the ratings are very correct execpt on Face/Off which i think should of scored lower.
I would like the same group to do it at CP. Then we'll really see how the GP thinks the rides stack up instead of biased coaster freaks.

HA!HA! That artists drawing of the park with 4 people is funny. The kid behind SOB looks like Ron Howard and the guy hanging on to the Eiffel Tower looks like Rikishi from the WWF with a big smile.
