My fiancee flaked out on me(couldn't get off work). My best friend flaked out on me, too(no money). I've been looking forward to this trip to Ohio ALL winter. What do I do? It's either postpone my trip until a later date or suck it up and drive solo.
I leave Atlanta on 5/29 around noon. Drive is not bad. I pull into Cincinnati around 6:30. Park downtown and notice that there is some sort of food festival going on. Very nice. Impressed with the downtown area. New football stadium looks killer. Found a cheap hotel in Sharonville. Hotel offers discount tix with check in. Great, no standing in line at the gate.

Park opens @10. I arrive around 9:45 and I immediately notice the famous Eiffel tower. I made it baby!!! Son of Beast looks Oh, so incredible. I can't wait to ride. But, wait is exactly what I will do because the ride is not open. To make matters worse, that infamous crane I've read so much about is hovering over the ride:(

The ride is clearly visible. I just could not believe how long it takes to reach it!! My only experience with this type ride is Iron Dragon, so I wasn't expecting much. A great ride. A little short but after riding Raven earlier this spring, I have come to realize that smaller is not always inferior. My trip is getting off to a good start.

I followed the Paws all the way to the entrance to the que. My first time on the Beast!!! The wait was about 25 min. I was totally expecting to view the ride. Man, you can't see anything. It kind of freaked me out. I didn't know what to expect. Back seat. Sort of expecting the ride to be a little rough but pleasantly suprised. Not bad. First drop was fun. You really get the feeling of being DEEP in the woods. It was great!! That second helix, pure joy. Fun. That's what I like in a coaster. For it to be fun. I don't like endurance tests. The view is killer from the top but that loud noise from the lift brings all of my attention to the ride. Next emotion: FEAR. I have to admit I was somewhat nervous all of the sudden. I reflect on all of the times my mom and dad have tried to convince me that amusement park rides and be dangerous. I think of all of the attention the industry has garnered from various politicians wishing to limit these type rides. What is the real reason PKI has delayed this ride? Is it safe??? SEAN, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?! But, it's too late now. Man, that first drop is just................that drop is insane. Friends, Sonny ain't nothing nice. This ride is INTENSE. FAST. I hate to say it but I thought maybe a little too fast. I know, it's never too fast, right? I must sound like a little wussy now but remember I like fun. This thing is a little too intense to be fun.(IMHO) The first drop was fine but leading into the double helix was a little bumpy. At the bottom of the helix is bumpy as well. My head started hurting. I wanted off. The loop was approaching and I braced for the worst. Hah, the loop was the best. I loved it!!! From there the train slowed down somewhat and shortly it was over. I realize most people love this ride and I can't possibly condemn a ride after only one go round. I need to ride it somemore. Maybe after it breaks in a little. I see the purpose. I just don't think it achieves it yet. I hope it does in the future. I really do. But just having the opportunity to ride after a long winter of hype and anticipation made it all worth it.

Very disappointed that the Racer is still not racing. Rode the forward train one time. Uhh, fun, but I would have probably enjoyed riding backwards more.
Looked at Vortex again but I couldn't bring myself to ride. Especially with my headache from Sonny still throbing.
