Forum SPAMMING

Just a reminder... plugging your sites in the forums is NOT permitted. If you have something newsworthy, contribute it to news. If it doesn't get approved, sorry, thems the brakes.

It's nothing personal, but if we allow one person to do it then every kid with a GeoCities page will do it, and we wouldn't have any real discussion. I don't want to be a jerk and start deleting accounts over it, so please, just don't do it.

Alright, you probably just started this thread after deleting my thread. Here it goes:

In no way was I advertising my site. I'm already advertising it in every one of my posts.

What I was doing was sharing pictures of Top Thrill Dragster testing, and the pictures were on my site. Apparently you got the wrong idea and thought I was advertising. If you were, then I'll post the thread again (if you don't mind, of course). If it does matter, I'll put the link in my sig.

I hope those weren't taken from the penninsula. (I don't know because Geocites sucks a** and I can't view your page)

There are already pictures floating around the net taken while tresspassing. We don't need those up....they give enthusiasts an even worse name.

Think about those pictures and from where they were taken, and you might figure out why the thread disappeared. If not, check out this thread, and this one, and this one.

The funniest thing about the now infamous pics and video is the "The CP police didn't stop me" defense.

You know, I was in Macy's the other day and I just started stuffing things into my pockets und under my coat. Security personal and employees were all over the place but no one noticed and stopped me - I guess it's ok.

Well, if he didn't take them it's "OK" to put them on his "website", right? He's already used pics from CP's site, why stop there? Sigh......

TTD: If you post a link to invite people to your site, that's advertising. What's so hard to understand about that? If I let you do it, then sets a precedent. Not gonna do it. Yes, now and then something gets through, but you know, I have a life, and I don't read every post. That doesn't mean it's a free for all.

People can complain and moan about moderation all they want. Happens every year around this time. Yet they keep on coming back to that which they hate. My theory is that's because (gasp!) what's left is actual conversation worth reading.

You can't please everybody.

Anyway, you don't need to do it. if You Build it They Will Come. Any decent site out there with something to offer will be discovered pretty quick and will attract return visitors. It's the beauty of the Internet.
On the flip side, a Geocites site with stolen pictures and crappy rehashed content won't get any substantial traffic! :)

Stolen pictures? Crappy rehashed content?

And I do get some decent traffic.

Well, I wasn't specifically referring to you, rather to the slew of crappy coaster sites out there, but the one time I visited your site there were pics of TTD taken from the official site, and stats which you must have copied from other sites. That's about all there was.

Want a successful site? Get original content. :)

Peabody - you must have visited the site before April 4th. All the pictures of TTD on the site were either taken by me or the guy who let me use his (the ones from yesterday).

Since the site was updated, I've gotten a lot more hits, and after I started the forum, it's been getting more popular.

The content is now a lot better, I edited the pictures in the photo gallery, and yes, I collected stats from the official site, but I compared them with a lot of other sites. The ride descriptions are completely original.

This isn't a topic about your site ya know. If you want to make a decent site try one that isn't made in PageBuilder and works in a resolution other than your own.

Gee...and some of us have sites but still end up putting our best content on other people's sites... :)

So, Jeff...would the message I posted in trip reports yesterday be considered "forum spamming"?

Who thinks we should all play by the same rules here...

What I love about CPNut's site is the TOS for the forums. 1.) They are almost identical to CBuzz's 2.) He's broken almost all the rules here. ;)

No Dave... I'm OK with what you did. I just don't get why you can't cut-and-paste. ;)

I'll do that sometime and you'll see why it doesn't work...

It has to do with text file formats (Apple vs. Unix vs. MS-DOG), and the fact that by the time I get the file into a machine that allows pasting into a web text box, it's already broken into USB adapter so I can use a decent keyboard on this machine?)
