With time winding down in New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin's administration, it is becoming less likely that any activity will happen at the former Six Flags New Orleans until Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu takes the reins at City Hall next month.

This is unbelievable. I was going to go there next month. ;)
In all seriousness though, I would be surprised if this ever opens again as an amusement park.

With the infastructure already built this would make a good water park.Parking ,paths, building pads, underground utilities all in place.
I just don't know if the City wants to invest any more money in this park as much as they have been burned by the last two incarnations of this park. Maybe they could get a company to turn it into a water park with a 20-30 year lease then it reverts to city ownership The city gets something on the site with no aditional money and the lease can help (or pay)the current debt.
I noticed on Southern Star Amusement's webpage, they still believe they will get SFNO and that "deal" with Nickelodeon is still a go..no wait they haven't updated their site site. Is this even a real company? True they have a phone number listed but for all I know it could led to somebody's cell phone.
Kinda reminds me of that so-called group some years back who claimed that they had the money and contracts, everything in place to rebuild and reopen Idora Park. I believe they even went as far and sending out press releases to the local Youngstown TV stations like WFMJ-TV only for them to find out that the "C.E.O." of this company was a 17 year old member of Theme Park Review. Ah Robb & Elissa weren't happy campers as a result.
