After Gov. Ron DeSantis’ hand-picked board took over Walt Disney World’s governing district earlier this year, firefighters at the theme park were among the few employees who publicly welcomed them. But now a new district administrator has reopened negotiations on a contract approved last month by the unionized firefighters that promised substantial pay raises and more personnel.

Maybe I am misunderstanding but what motivation does the new board have to not just give the union whatever they want?
If they agreed to a contract with much higher wages with the idea that Disney will be forced to pay whatever is in the contract, you run the risk of upsetting mayors and city councils across the state because there will be upward pressure on wages expected for their fire departments.

From what I have read, the board is talking with the union. Wouldn't expect the board would be proposing to increase the compensation under the contract. But maybe so.

I was also taken aback by the $400k number. Is that what the previous administrators were paid?
I make a good salary for a similar type of position...but it is nowhere near $400,000k. That being said, when there are few "taxpayers" to complain about the salary...does he (or anyone) care?
