The largest privately held theme park company in America, Herschend Family Entertainment consists of 26 properties in ten states: amusements parks (including Dollywood, co-owned by Dolly Parton), water parks, aquariums, a safari, campgrounds, a showboat and, most recently, the storied Harlem Globetrotters. The company earns an estimated $150 million on revenue of $400 million.

This is a really good read, including some history around the company that I wasn't aware of. I am surprised though that their revenue is only around $400 million. I thought the aggregate of all of their smaller attractions would have put it higher.

Dollywood and Silver Dollar City really are a couple of the best parks out there. Herschend is doing something right.
