Food Prices... Getting Too high?

Hey auscoasterman, what is Four n Twenty perfection? Nothing related to 4:20 perfection, is it? :) Anyway, I'm still to this day kicking myself for not visiting the parks up on the Gold Coast. I spent 6 months down under (most of it at JCU in Townesville) and even though I went right by the parks I usually had other things on my mind. Still had a great time and I can't wait to get back on the GBR.
But if EVERYBODY bought a drink at the movie, they wouldn't cost that much.

What gets me is people asking for water. "What? I've got to pay for water!" Yes, your cup costs money, the other consumers shouldn't have to off set the expense of YOUR free water.

Around here, during the summer, beach tourists come & they swear we raise our prices for summer. We should, but we don't. There's more people, we're in more of a situation to run out of things, we have to work longer & harder. They're tourists that blow through once or twice, at most.

On a SAT evening, Memorial Day Weekend, you can't exactly call your foodservice distributor to bring you enough fries for the evening, LOL, so you keep your cost up so you don't run out.

I was very pleasantly suprised at the Midway Market at CP. You might think $9.95 is expensive for all you can eat, but the food was excellent, and they had a great variety of vegetarian things. The veggie lasagna was excellent, and they even had veggie pizza. The deserts were awesome, especially the berry pie (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and I think rhubarb). Our server kept brining more iced tea as soon as our glasses were 3/4 empty.

We'll be taking advantage of this place more often

Thanks for posting....with Jill's vegetarianism, finding food at parks can get quite tricky at times.....good thing she likes PB&Js....

Trust me an amusement park doesn't price gouge because they are afraid of running out of product. They do because they can. And they can stay in line with other venues and still be less. Amusement park warehouses hold enough to feed a small nation for a month or so (just a joke;) but really they have plenty of space and recieve shipments daily.

I know that WOA will not charge for water because someone may be suffering from dehydration or need it for medication or something so it has always been free for a cup. Plus they will often give you a full size cup not one of these 3oz jobbies like at other parks.

And kpjb, if there are people like you who only spend by the budget, why would they care if they got it all at once for one product or end up giving out more product for less profit. Perhaps i missed the point, but most parks have volume in the bag so they can mark up and eat their cake too.
