Food prices drop significantly at Cedar Point

Posted | Contributed by Gemini

Cedar Point guests will not only get into the park for less money this season, but they will eat for less, too. Throughout the entire park, all food items, except one, are either staying the same or being reduced in price.

I can almost assure you that CP pays exactly zero for soda.

I am curious about that assertion, as there would be no benefit to Pepsi to give CP free product. Especially in the volume they sell it. Product exposure levels in an amusement park are low. Three maybe four million people over four months. The business end does not add up.

I could be pretty easily persuaded that they do not pay for the syrup for fountain drinks. But the 20oz bottles are different. The cost to the bottler for actual bottle and cap outweigh the marketing benefit.

You'll just have to take my word for it. But the benefit is certainly clear in that you have a captive audience and it's everywhere you go. You see that logo dozens of times in the average day.
I have to admit the food prices had been so high over the last few years i packed a cooler with my own food because the trip alone with admission and hotel then gas is enough. Paying about 10 bucks for a burger fries and a coke is ridiculous. Perhaps they are thinking about what it really cost and are concerned about keeping steady customers.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. No harm in that.

While I have no insight into parks, I do have considerable insight into the marketing efforts of many consumer product manufacturers - even the one we are currently discussing. I would be curious to know how they measure CPM, if they even do so.

One thing I can say for certain, is that from the consumer's standpoint, $1.29 for a 20oz at the local Speedway sure seems cheap compared to whatever the rate will be at CP.

Now if they would just hire better employees. :)
I was just at CP this weekend and I'd say the "new low prices" are overstated. I felt like food/beverage prices are still pretty high. And while the food available isn't "bad", per se, I'd be more okay with the prices if there were more options for "real" food as opposed to the usual fried park fare.
