Food and wine festivals bring crowds and profits to Florida theme parks

The only people I’ve ever seen having a bad time at Disney World are the ones that are dealing with their kids. I tell people to take the family when everyone’s older. In the meantime plan a trip for just the two of you and leave the kids with grandma.

I used to tell people to wait until the kids were older as well, but a couple of events have changed my opinion for the families that it won't be the once in a lifetime trip. The little ones won't remember that trip but the parents will, and those parental memories and photos are just as important as the ones the kids will have later on.

We haven't been to Disney World yet this year because we used a bunch of points to spend over 30 days with the mouse in a little under 11 months, 23 of those days with an infant/toddler. Sure it was different than our past vacations but it was still a great time. Good enough the now 3-year-old will be with us when we go back in December.

I've often said I'd pay extra for a Magic Kingdom with no children in it.

When I was younger and living in Southern California my father's company would rent Disneyland once a year. The park was opened from about 8pm to 1am and while there were some teenagers it was primarily adults who were there. It was the closest thing I ever experienced to an amusement park to myself. I could walk right on Space Mountain and the Matterhorn. It was awesome in every sense of the word.

This is an interesting exchange for me to read as I rediscovered amusement parks due to having kids. Since then i’ve Travelled to some parks by myself but have found those experiences significantly less interesting and fun than the times I visit with my girls.

Yes! Also it appears that there is a positive relationship between amount of clutter brought and anger level. Why are people compelled to bring the whole house along?

Back miscommunication before:

I chalk it up to the ambiguity of the English and the nonsensical idioms that we create in our culture. It would be nice to clearly communicate that you have a child that enjoys more grown-up things and isn't into childish entertainment as much without it sounding like a euphemism for... other stuff. It sounds like the words "adult" and "mature" have been co-opted into having two separate meanings.

On a side note: only children tend to be more comfortable interacting with adults, and children with siblings tend to be comfortable interacting with peers... on average. The girlfriend's child was probably interested in more activities that aren't traditionally associated with kids because he/she had more interaction with adults growing up.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you don’t know anything about that family or their dynamics.

I think I communicated quite clearly, and I really didn't ask for you analyze my family situation, but thanks.

Yeah this is a public family friendly website and Josh isn’t a pedophile. I don’t think he needs to explain anything and anyone that took it as anything other than innocent has the issue. Not the person who used the correct term in context on a family friendly site.
