Food advice for mid-west trip

SFGAm has the largest variety of places to eat in the 1 mile strip between the Interstate and the entrance to the park. Especially convenient for a filling breakfast before entering the park.
Be careful at Skyline or Goldstar. It's very taste oriented. You either hate it or you love it. I love it, but I've gone with plenty of people who can't stand it. ;)

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

My vote is for Pedro's, next to Timber Falls in the Dells. It was pretty good Mexican ;)

Tex mex or traditional?
^ I've never been to Kennywood so I can't compare the fried oreo's.

Seemed pretty traditional to me, Eight.

Uno's is the best (outside of Chicago that is). We have one here that puts all the other pizza places to shame (then again, we are not KNOWN for our pizza....lol.) Their chicken fajita pizza (among other things) is just........heavenly. :-P

As far as Skyline and Goldstar, I am not THAT crazy about it, but it's ok. I prefer the 5-ways. :-) Extra cheese is always a plus. It's an acquired taste I guess. Skyline's chili cheese fries aren't too shabby.

Chicken Fajita huh, sounds different but have you ever had a honey mustard chicken pizza, the sauce is honey mustard, it is awesome, it's at a pizza joint in Des Moines, yummy.

It's Tex Mex, but it's really good. Another suggestion for the dells is Paul Bunyan, which is right down the road from Pedro's, away from downtown. At Paul Bunyan you really don't get a choice what you get to eat, but they serve you family style and there is enough stuff they put out that it will make everyone happy. It's a really unique dining experience that cannot be missed. Also, if you are into buffets, there is Black Bart's, which is on the site of an old amusement park that closed in the 70's ( I still remember being scared of Black Bart ). There are some excellent photos and stuff of the old park and some remenants to see as well.

In Gurnee, there is a ton of stuff by Gurnee Mills, which is on the other side of the freeway. If you are into Rainforest Cafe, there is one in the mall. Something I have yet to find is Coney Island Custard. Supposedly, they have a model roller coaster inside the restaurant.

Inside Great America, make sure to pick up some Andre's fries over in the Farmer's Market. There is a buffet/menu order place in Southwest Territory that almost no one knows about, so even on the busiest of days, the place is dead. Great air-conditioning on those scorcher days, too. Order off the menu, though, as the buffet is really lacking in any quality. It's also the one place in the park where you can get free soft drink refills.

Certain victory.

Pizza with honey-mustard sauce makes me want to vomit.

Ew. Just ew.

Not too far from HW there is a German restaurant in Jasper that's pretty good.
Seriously, what's with all of the Chicago and pizza stuff? LOL. Now the hot dogs? Egad, some good eatin'! No dog like a Chgo dog...except in the park, of course.

NY does pizza better anyway.

IB, snack on the tacos (cause you gotta - it might be the law in Monticello) and eat in the Sky Room, preferably dinner. If you can roll in on the Thursday night Polynesian luau with it's traditional supper club vibe (soooo cool), all the better.

^^ I've herd good things about the German restaurant. I'm going to have to go there next time i'm up at Holiday World.

I go to SFGAm every week...and I have one bit of advice for food in the park: Firehouse Pizza. It is very good, but because of the expensive in-park food I usually go across Grand Avenue to Culver's or Wendy's, both VERY close (less than .01 miles west when you exit six flags parkway). Hope I could help.
