Flying Ox opens in Pigeon Forge, a hybrid zip line and roller coaster

Just north of Atlanta, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is a new kind of roller coaster that lets you fly through the air zip line style, but hooked to a roller coaster track. The one of a kind attraction takes riders on a 1,000-foot-long ride 80 feet in the air above Lumberjack Square at Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Show & Adventure Park.

That's right on the main strip. It'll be packed.

Just north of Atlanta? Mm... ok.

Whats the Journal-Constitution trying to do? Run people out of state?

I drove past this at the beginning of July. Considering it's only $30 for adults to get into the 'adventure park,' I may give it a try the next time I find my self in that area.

That said, I don't expect much from it and would likely consider it a one-and-done credit, if it can be considered one.

There's a sweet alpine coaster just up the road from there. That was a lot of fun.

Saw this when we were there a couple weeks ago. The concept sounds good, but in reality it didn't look too interesting. This is even moreso the case because there are multiple mountain coasters and zip line adventures nearby that involve views of the Smoky Mountains instead of a strip mall.

"Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Show & Adventure Park" is the name of a place that The Onion did not make up, apparently.

I thought Dolly took over production of the Lumberjack Show. Unless there’s more than one in town. (Impossible, you say? No, it’s not.)

Seven replies and not a real joke about Paula Deen or butter or racism? You disappoint me, CoasterBuzz.

Yeah, well, I’m still working on that.

I didn't know she was still much of a relevant brand. Her restaurant in Dallas fizzled out with a whimper earlier this year.

I was coming in to make a Paula Deen racism joke, but she apologized for being a racist on TV and never thought being a racist would hurt anyone. She cried butter tears and everything. Diabeetus.

I figured the fact it's a park in Pigeon Forge and based off Lumberjacks was all the racism we needed.

If it ever came down to it, Dolly could totally take Paula.

Two words: Pigeon. Forge. (The land of white people lining up for all-you-can-eat misery.)
That location is huge, in a modern, new-build on an out parcel at The Landing. Late one night after a day at Dollywood I decided I was hungry. (I know, seems impossible...) I noticed Paula’s was still open so I went in. The entire first floor was retail and a big waiting area. Up the escalator was the second floor kitchen and enormous dining room. I waited a while up there and when I finally caught someone’s attention she seemed dismayed that I was there by myself. Here’s how it works, and there’s only one option: the AYCE feast brings three (3) entrees, five (5) sides, and a dessert. On the initial order they bring enough for each person in the party. Later you can reorder as much as you want, and there’s no carry out whatsoever.
Well, that seemed like a lot of food to me, even at single portions, so I asked if I order the 3+5+1 (no choice there) and just get that, no reorder, can I take any uneaten portion with me. The answer was no. So I pressed back saying it was mine, I was paying for it, and it only made sense that as long as I didn’t reorder I should be able to do what I want. Again, no. So I walked out.
But not before cruising through the retail store looking for I didn’t know what. Then it occurred to me that there was a blessing in disguise. I decided not to spend a dime there and felt better about it.
Well, until I got to Mellow Mushroom there at The Landing and it was terrible. I should’ve had dinner at Dollywood.

Go up the road to Local Goat. Pretty sure they're open late.
