We walked back to The Flying Coaster and arrived at an overflowing queue. More on TFC later...
So instead of jumping on TFC, we took a ride on Tower Of Doom. All three side were running, and the wait wasn’t too bad. The two people I was with had never been on it, which always makes for an interesting time. Great view and ride, this one won’t get old for a while.
We strolled around the crowded midways for a few minutes wondering what to do. Finally, we decided to get our first ride on:
The Flying Coaster (1 flight). I’ve never been on a ride during it’s opening day, so I thought that was kind of neat. There were orange/blue/white balloons everywhere, and there was even a band playing for a little while. A beach ball kept most everyone in the line very entertained for the hour and a half wait. Good times.
The loading procedure is a hell of a lot more effective than Stealth’s. I doubt it would work with a longer train, but basically you jump in the car (standing up) while it is still moving. The car stops, the ops close the cage behind you, and then the car tilts forward. It’s all very easy.
Once we were finally aboard, the train attached to a rotating support in the middle of the lift hill, and pulled the train up the peak of the seventy foot hill. The trains were kind of uncomfortable, they need a lot more padding. Unlike Stealth (which I actually found fairly comfortable) this hurt my shoulders.
The ride is really neat, and it really whips you through some tight turns. The two barrel rolls are smooth and entertaining. Parts of it were a little rough, but nothing too bad. The kid that “sat” next to me summed it up best:
“That was unique!”
After that, we got some Lemon Chills and took off. I wanted to go up in the Observation Tower, but that never happened since it was closed. Oh well, maybe next time.
Big thanks for the SFEG employees for handling the crowds, and keeping everything working smoothly.
Here are a few pictures.

Sounds like you had a good time. I was also able to make it yesterday, but I decided to battle the crowd and somehow I got to be one of the 4 people sent up in the first car. So that was nice. The first hundred or so got pins I believe.
I think the ride is very similar to a SLC, it is a small but good design. And it can be rough in places. If you turn into the turns however that can reduce some of the roughness. The brake run and the barrel rolls kinda hurt your shoulders. They will need to add to the queue I think, it is very small. They had a temporary queue that ran out of the "queue house" but even that didn't hold up. The line went all the way back to the sidewinder at some points.

I wasn't disapointed, I got what I expected. I knew the ride was going to be short, in all, the ride seemed longer than I thought. The roughness didn't suprise me either, I had read a article on the first drop website from someone who got to ride it in Italy, and they mentioned the restraints hurt a little. Either way, the ride is good for SFEG.

Mike and Todd- Yeah, I'll admit, it was just a little disappointing. But there were also some good surprises too (like how fast it went).
SaxPlayer- Here is a little quote from ECC's First Drop magazine:
An arm mounted on each car has a wheel on the end of it that will come into contact with this vertical section. As the column rotates, it pushes up against the arm and forces the car forwards and up onto the spiral, with the wheel allowing it to move upwards along the vertical section. It's a very neat solution for a ride where there isn't space for a lift hill.
Hope that helps a little bit.
Butt- I agree, since they are so compact, it wouldn't surprise me to see a few more.
