From what I have heard, the Flying Coaster's restraints produce no headbanging. Do you think that Vekoma could put these type of OTSR's on their SLC coasters?
The SLC's would actually be good without headbanging.

PCW needs something taller than a boomerang
I think that they could, it would be an excellent idea! I personally love the SLC's intense layout (although a little short) but with the headbanging I don't ride Serial Thriller anymore.

No thanks! Ick! Yuck! As if throughput on an SLC isn't low enough as it is!
(I rode X-flight yesterday).
First of all, the shoulder restraints on the Flying Dutchman are absolutely inadequate for use on an SLC by themselves, as they ONLY secure the upper body. Someone my size on an SLC with that getup would go right out the bottom in a heartbeat. Second, getting in and out of that thing is a real hassle for many people, which means a significant capacity hit. And finally, there is the problem of the retractors stubbornly refusing to latch in evenly. No, I don't think it's a good idea. In fact, I think Vekoma ought to go back to the drawing board with that design.
It looked so promising, but in practice it just needs some work.

it's possible, just have a belt from the bottom of the OTSR, no one will fall out:)

THey will just hit their jewels on the belt.
All the SLC'S need is softer head-padding.
RideMan, what didn't you like about X-F's restraints? Personally, I think they are very well done.
mind eraser at sfa's pretty soft.no head banging there, joker's jinx, now that's another story alltogether,a story about pain!
OMG, those OSTR's and a lap bar would be so perfect on any upside down coaster.
I would love that.

I think that putting them on sitdowns like Vekoma
Boomerangs would make the ride almost bearable. The design of the FD restraints are very good and i think that other companies should look at them in the future for other types of rides. The whole fact that the restraint is not sitting right next to your head makes a lot of sense.
Sorry Batwing Fan, but as much as I take pride in my homepark SFA, I find Mind Eraser pretty hard to ride most days. It has an intense layout, but the pads are not comfortable. It's those stupid grooves in the pads that rough up your ears while riding. I'll stick to their other Vekoma's, Batwing and Two Face.
Ok, I have noticed a random pattern. Almost any Vekoma coaster you ride will produce headbanging. The only Vekomas that I know of that will not bang heads are kiddie coasters and Flying Dutchmans. Anything else, banging. They should take a lesson from B&M.
