But, even the cheesy flume at BGW generates big lines on a hot day, and when the patrons at MiA aren't in the water park, they are often waiting for the flume. These rides *can* draw well, and White Water Landing usually did in the middle of a hot summer's day---even later in its life.
If CP announces a new one, I think the general reaction would be "ANOTHER ONE?? WHY????"
I don't think they will build another water ride though, they still have two major soakers, and this is "America's Roller Coast"...it's known for it's coasters! Which it will have been 4 years since TTD was built by the time we reach the '07 season. IMO, that's overdue for CP.
That was the only water ride that didn't guarantee you a complete soaking. There's a fine-line that people want for cooling off. You MAY get lucky on the Canyon ride, and somehow the tides of the turns will only get you a few splashes or a wet back, but you will get soaked on Snake River no matter what.
White Water Landing was just a slight cool-down ride which is what makes it a staple at parks. You get a little splashed, you're cooled off a little, but not completely drenched where you're wetting each & every seat you sit on, on the dry rides for the next 2hrs!!
If it does make a return, I doubt it'll be themed to anything specific, but I'm sure it'll be state-of-the-art, and have some nice effects (misting tunnel? double-dip drop?) that'll set it apart from the rest of the pack.
As for replacing WWL with another flume ride, it's not unprecidented at CP. Remember what used to be on that site prior to WWL? Shoot-the-Rapids!
I'm not saying I think CP will do that again, I HIGHLY doubt it. I can say with certainty though that I have NO clue as to what they ARE going to put there other than it MIGHT be something called Maverick. I just have to get used to the fact that I'm gonna have to wait a few months to find out, I'll try not to lose sleep over it though! :)

Face it, as much as we enjoy them, and especially reminiscing about them, they're the dinosaurs of amusement rides and more importantly they all are situated with huge footprints and tend to be high maintenance. More and more of the bigger parks will be replacing them with more up-to-date attractions. And what I'm noticing is that parks are putting more places to cool down in the middle of the park, such as misters, shading, etc.
I see a lot of people concerned about getting wet. All you have to do is bring a change of clothes and a towel with you to the park and stash them in the lockers. We do it on all major park trips. If you get soaked and it makes you miserable later, simply grab the change out of the locker and change and then you are dry again. We do it all the time and it works great. A little planning goes a long way! ;)

Long live the Big Bad Wolf
A high-capacity, dueling, interactive flume? :)
I don't anticipate CP going ALL-OUT like IoA did....but *some* more family-friendly themed attractions MIGHT not hurt when they've already decided that LOWERING admissions was a good move... ;)
If CP feels they MUST break a record for a new ride (re:flume), why not have record CAPACITY... ;)
:)
Now, as for a park building a brand new flume, look no further than Wild Adventures. They're building a new flume this year.
Thats what I want in that space, something that my girlfriend and I can ride when we don't feel like getting our buts whipped on one of the coasters.
