Marineland, the longtime Florida tourist attraction, has been sold to Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta for a reported $9.1 million. Company officials say they want to ensure the attraction's "long-term viability as both a public attraction and a center for aquatic animal research and conservation."

Marineland *is* still a public attraction? I mean, I remember it being something in the early 70s when we visited Daytona/New Smyrna every year as a kid. In the more recent past, I've only known it as a research facility and didn't realize they still did any "public outreach" - the place seemed completely deserted the last couple times we were down that way...
