Florida Trip

This summer i'm heading down to Orlando for a vaction and I have a question for anyone who has been to both Universal parks. When i'm down there i'm going to be a little limited on days. My big question is if I have three days tops at amusement parks which should I go to, Busch Gardens, Universal Islands Of Adventure, or Universal Escape (I think thats what the old one is called). I know thats 3 parks for 3 days but I was wondering if I spend one day at Busch Gardens should I go to Islands of Adventure for 2 days and skip the older park or goto both. Is the older park worth it and would I miss anything by not going. Also would I need more than a day at Islands of Adventure. Anyone that can help thanks.

You can do all three. Busch Gardens is easy in a day.

Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida are grouped in one area now called Universal Orlando (they dropped the "Escape" portion of the title about a year ago) They offer a 2-day 2-park pass for $89. Its very easy to do both parks in 2 days. If you get finished with one park and want to go to the other you can on the same day. If your'e familiar with the Disney Park Hopper then it works on the same principle. Tickets have a magnetic stripe and you get a hand stamp as you leave. We just went a few weeks a go and did the same thing. We went to Busch Gardens the first day and spent the next two at Universal Orlando.

So unless lines are incredibly long you wont need more than a day at IOA. We went during Easter Vacation and we found that all of the wait times were grossly overinflated. Its not as busy during late spring months and summer as it is during Easter. And yes Universal Studios (the older park) is worth it. It doesn't have any coasters, but it makes up for it with theming and excellent rides. So do all 3. Thats my suggestion and it worked for me.

dont go to USF, it is just flat out boring, spend 2 days at either BGT or IOA. USF is very outdated, and too crowded, all the time.

Of course, if you hve even the slightest thought of returning to Florida in the next year, pay $10 more and purchase Universal's 2-park Annual Power Pass ($99). It's difficult to find any reference to it at the ticket booths, but they sell 'em. Trust me.

It's subject to blackout dates (June-August summer weekends and the week between Christmas and New Years), but then you've already paid the most expensive part of a second trip between now and 364 days from now.

.....goood advice 'Playa....but remember folks, the $99 price is for FLCC/ACE members and for AAA. I don't know if they honor cards from other coaster clubs....anyone?

I would recommend goin to Busch Gardens Tampa, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. They are all very nice parks and are well worth it. Islands of Adventure can be very well done in just one day. I went 3 weeks ago and it was pretty crowded, I suggest going to get Hulk's Universal Express ticket as soon as you arrive to the park. They are out pretty quickly. Don't worry about the Dueling Dragons since they ALWAYS have around 25 minutes of line. Spiderman is another one you want to get Universal Express tickets, the line is VERY long, usually about 2 and a half hours. Jurassic Park River Adventure should be around 60 minutes and Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls are around 90. In one day you can do all IOA. I've been there in December-January, End of March, July-August and September and hose are the average waiting times on the most important rides. When are you going? September is by far the absolutely best time to go. I got walk-ons onthe Hulk and Spiderman.

I haven't been to BGT in about 4 years, so I'm not sure how crowds are there. USF is a nice park although there are no coasters except this kiddie one.

Hope that helps!

Roller, anyone can buy the Annual Power Pass. The $99 pass you are talking about (for AAA and FLCC/ACE) is a regular annual pass (no blackout periods over the summer weekends, free parking) and it's only going to be on sale through the end of May.

If you go to their online booth:

https://tickets.universalstudios.com/

They also have a $99 pass that includes access to both parks and CityWalk for a week -- that's something to consider if you won't be back in a year, like to go clubhopping and/or think that you might be able to slip in a third morning or night at the park.

Man when i went to Islands Of Adventure i waited 15min for hulk,10min for dragons,10min for spider man,5min for ripsaw falls,10min jurassic park river adventure. I went in Febuary.

I've never been then.
id suggest staying at one of the 3 on-site hotels, front of the line access is great! There was a 3 hour wait for ET, i waited 30 seconds, and got to walk inbetween the theming. However since USF & IOA has Universal Xpress the front of the line waits can be 20 minutes:( So if you have an extra $250 bucks spend it and stay at one of there nice hotels for at least one night.
