Flashback SFMM

^ Ya, it's been SBNO since 2003. And nobody except upper management at the park really knows what the deal with it is.

They once had the Orient Express, Sky ride and monorail - now nothing at all (I know Orient Express is coming back at some point).

Don't forget the funky cable car the went up the hill where Ninja is now. Never did ride that so I can't tell you if you could get off at the top of if it was simply a sightseeing excursion.

Dragon did indeed take you up to Samuri Summit. The round abandonded pagoda-like building up on top behind the bathroom is where the summit station once was.

They also had a second set of skyrides that criss-crossed the main set as well. So yeah, back when the park was so much smaller with way less attractions, they had all these cool transportation options to get around the park. Now that the parks is so much bigger and way more rides, all that is left if OE. This is one park that absolutely needs a train circling the park.

*Currently*, the reasons we're given for Flashie's SBNO are: 1) the NOISE that distracts the lifeguards at the waterpark, and 2) that power has been DC'd from the ride to run extra power TO said waterpark...

I still have ETCHED in memory the day I got to SFMM and saw that thing TESTING.....I ran like I haven't run in years....LOL!

Dragon's lower station still stands abandoned next to Jet Stream. It's hilltop station is now Ninja's station. As you're waiting in line the turntable, now replaced with cement, is clearly visible. A small portion of the track is still visitble on the hill under Ninja's second lift.

I got to Marriots like way early for Zforce.....7 A.M. They hyped it in all the papers like it was Top Thrill Dragster or somethin' :)

My Beautiful wife, Julia, is the best thing that has ever happened to me!

So that's what that building is 'moosh! I was looking at it and not sure what exactly was there. At the time I figured it was probably some car ride, but Dragon makes much more sense. It's very sad to see. Arrow made it, right?

Sorry GK...I have no idea what manufacturer made Dragon.
Flashback is easily the worst coaster I've ever been unfortunate enough to get sledgehammered by. No, I take that comparison back, a sledgehammer to the temples would be more pleasant.

^ But you can't count that as a credit, Greg... :)
Oh come on! It's not that bad...

Well ok, I guess it is. I've just learned how to ride it over the years, and I manage to get pretty good rides on it while everyone else is crying out in pain, lol. I still think Flashback is not nearly as bad as SFGadv's former Viper. That ride was litterally a death sentence.

In speaking with some high ups at Tatsu's media day, the park really does not know what to do with Flashback at this point, and it's not about coaster counts. They just haven't decided what to do with it. Even if they decide to sprap it, that can't happen till next year (no budget left), and in the meantime, there's no way it's opening either.

My best guess would be that the ride will just sit there till the end of the year, and then will take it's place along side Viper and Zonga as troubled coasters finally given up on by SF.

I was hoping to ride FB on my annual coaster trip this june. I want to see how rough the coaster is.
^ Yah... Like that will ever happen this century!!! ;-)
It does seem like that might finally be it for Flashback. A few years ago it seemed like you might get lucky on a trip there and catch it running - not anymore. No doubt that it really has become an eyesore.

I'm guessing that if they do rip it out, they may just end up stealing that land for the waterpark (as it appears to me that they've maxed out all the land on that corner). Time will tell.

OK...I thought I'd seen this somewhere before. Now that you gave me the name, a quick search came up with this (scroll down): http://members.tripod.com/heylownine/oldride.htm

By the way, from the picture, I only see the cars going up. Where did they descend?

The return leg was to the right on the other side of those trees. They were separated by about 10-15 feet.
I think that people should be less lazy and WALK up the mountain.

You don't need a ride that takes you up the mountain when it is faster to walk!!!

So everyone who uses an escalator or elevator is lazy?
Maybe??? ;)
I think they should get rid of the shoulder harnesses, increase the view on the trains... Enclose the coaster and put a bunch of red lights.. blue lights, give it a disaster transport doo-up, some sort of weird theme, and it would rock!

Hey, good ideas start somewhere!

Count me as one of the SFGam folks who adored this coaster during it's brief time as "Z-Force" in Gurnee, IL. I agree that if "Flashback" was enclosed with some cool lighting effects, it would be fantastic. I'm not sure what would need to be done to smooth out the reported roughness... perhaps new trains... but that seems to be the opinion of many people on here.

Anyway, it's a unique ride, and I'd hate to see it demolished.
