Flashback at SFMM Open??

I read this off of coaster-net.com

One more rumor before our last update:

'Six Flags Magic Mountain Flashback has operated this season. IT'S not going to leave YET. It will in the future. My friend works at the park and he said that they MIGHT have lap bars only. Don't count on it. It probaly won't happen. But with Six Flags, anything can happen.'

On my last rumor update, I said that Six Flags Magic Mountain has not opend up Flashback at all this year well I was wrong. I am sorry. I just have not heard much on that so that is why I said that. I do know now that it is closed due to construction for there new ride.

- Does this mean, the big SBNO coaster was actually open?

Don't believe baseless rumors.

I'm sure with as many people that there are that post on this site and live near SFMM, someone would have said "Flashback is OPEN!", but not since 2003. They don't run it during summer as a 'rule', and I was there out of season and not only was it not running, but it was blocked off.

I also believe that the power was cut off to the ride in 2004. Hopefully, next year with the rumored reopening of Sky Tower (as it's situated adjacent to Tatsu), I hope they get Flashback up and running, even if it isn't the most sought after coaster in the park's lineup among guests...I hate to see ANY coaster standing idle, when it can be taking on passengers.
I hope the rumors are true that both Flashback and Sky Tower re-open next year. Even if they weren't the most popular rides, they were still fun. Anyway like others have said, it has NOT operated for the public since late April 2003.
It would be a crime not to reopen Sky Tower next year. How long has it been closed? It's been at least a few years, right? They could do it as part of Tatsu's festivities! As for Flashback, a little paint and just being open would be fine, if not just get rid of it and stop tacking it onto your coaster count. *** Edited 11/6/2005 4:20:11 PM UTC by Willh51***
It's probably for sale and no one wants to buy it.
If its cheap enough, I'd buy it. :)

Nothing like having another credit put right into my backyard. ;)

i'm not sure what to put here..

I wonder if it would still even run. I would think it's rusted or will have problems unless the test it rarely.
They'd probably have to repair some worn parts like air hoses, brakes, etc.

As for coaster count? I hardly see how you can count it if it's SBNO - otherwise, why not build 20 small (only a few hundred feet) track circuits, run them each for a year or 2, and then close them down just to have the record?

As for Flashback? Well, alongside the others that were closed on my last visit, I do hope to add it to my track record someday, and 2006 would be a good day. :)

I was at SFMM in march of 2003 and Sky Tower was closed long before then.

I rode Flashback, though!

The last time I recall being up in the Sky Tower was to view Riddler's construction site.
But you know what? Even if they re-open Skytower next year, and do some work to Flashback and make it run, SFMM will STILL suck.

:)

/\ Your opinion of the park has been taken into consideration ;)
I was on Skytower in summer 2000

Just wanted to note that I hate you John... ;)

:)

I've been on it too, several years ago. And you know what? It really is as bad as everyone says it is. ;)

Can you hate me, too? Because not only did I ride Flashback with John, we both rode it twice!

/\ I'm sorry to say that you are a Flashback whore. ;)
And it's nothing to brag about, trust me! ;)

If there was ever a coaster marked to follow SFGadv's Viper to the scape heap, it's Flashback. The fact that SFMM is delaying it another year or two just to maintain the record, is as desperate as you can get.

The fact that it's always closed doesn't surprise me at all. It's not worth the trouble when every other rider is complaining about head injuries. LOL

You know, I'd think Flashback would be more popular. I mean, it's right by the waterpark and we all know about waterparks...
