Jeff, stress fractures are usually pretty difficult to see. It's a 'safety rumor' because there's really no obvious easy way to say, "You're a fool. Look." ...except, usually, there's no need to bother.

As for the tires spinning or not:

Some of you might have seen the tires spinning and some not, it all depends on a few factors, like wind, car, etc. I have the slightest idea if they were designed to spin or not. I CAN tell you that out of the MANY times I have been up there they have been spinning.

To clear it up a little though...It's not like they are spinning so fast you can't see the words on them. Out of all the times I have ridden it, I have seen a slow constant spin. With a BIG tire a slow constant sping could easily do something to an axle, as RideMan said and a few others. I don't know myself what the reason was, but I can tell you those things do spin freely.

Oh, and for the record they are Good Year..I could only imagine what would happen with Firestone ;)

I was there Saturday (I think I saw Rideman shoot past me in the line, heh) and can confirm the tires were spinning on Saturday. Slightly. VERY slightly. "Less than 1 rpm" slightly.

They were gone Sunday. I dunno when on Saturday they disappeared. (Don't really care either) :)

Definitely five 5-car trains.

Definitely a hell of a ride.

I'm really surprised they used real tires. I would have thought a realistic-looking faux tire [that also weighed less] would have been preferable.

Monday, the red train was missing it's engine and rear airfoil. I noticed this right a way. I was so happy to finally be in the queue, though, that I did not notice the tires missing till I was almost to the station. Still no sixth train.

My only guess is that Cedar Point is still trying to break in the launch system. I bet the train theming will make its return. I don't think CP is trying to break a World Record for the fastest detheming of a Roller Coaster.
