Six Flags Over Georgia, Austell, Georgia, USA
While being an enthusiast for over 10 years now, visiting dozens of parks across the word with 200+ credits, I still find it odd that somehow I have only ever been to one legacy Six Flags park, Great Adventure, in 2018. However, due to some insane deals on airfare and hotel, I managed to snag a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia with my girlfriend.
I woke up at my hotel (which was just across the street) and we walked to the park at 10am, knowing we would be early. I was certain I would have issues trying to scan in to the park, (my gf got a silver pass for the day since it was cheaper than a ticket) and I was correct. 10 minutes after gates open I finally get in (with the help of G.S.) and headed straight to Gold Rusher.
We would walk on to goldrusher, and we LOVED IT. The speed and airtime are spectacular for a small coaster, and even though we had no spin (still not working) we thoroughly enjoyed it. We rerode it as it was a walk on, and it was such a good ride.
After GSR, we went to superman, and took a lap on that. while it was a walk on, the physical path length of the line was rather long and we both decided it wasn't worth walking around again. We took a lap on GASM, which was a walk on. Very fun layout, but I feel it could benefit from some GG or Titan Track to make it better. After a quick bite to eat, we went and rode skyscreamer, because she wanted to get a view of the park.
Batman was up next, and it was my GF's least favorite ride, due to headbanging. I don't blame her, she's not a thoosie like me and doesn't quite know all the tricks I do. We were going to do Riddler while over there but it went down, so we snagged a lap on goliath in row 9 with a little wiggle room on the bar. Only one B&M hyper rivals this IMO, that being Shambhala in Spain.
After Goliath, riddler reopened and we went to take a lap on it. The queue management for the ride was awful, and I could tell. We took 30 minutes to clear the turn after the "30 minutes from this point" sign, and it was 2 train ops. I'm pretty sure they were just filling trains with flash pass, because I cannot figure out why it took so long. Out of the three Schwarzkopfs I've ridden, this one was the least interesting. My GF also said we waited far too long for this compared to other rides that day (nearly 2 hours).
Dare Devil Dive was next, and my Girlfriend was very pleased to get front on it. Somehow this was a 15 minute wait, which was nice. She was nervous about the vertical lift, but I reminded her she has ridded TTD, which was far taller and faster than DDD. Afterwards I rode Scorcher alone, since she had no interest in a standup coaster. I liked it, but I felt like it could be a little longer.
After our dinner, we went and knocked out Twisted Cyclone. We waited 15 minutes for it, and had a great back row ride. My Gf said it felt like Steel Vengeance's Greatest hits, but on a smaller scale. I can kinda see where she's coming from, but nonetheless it was a very fun ride, and the only one we wished we could reride.
Mine train was next, and the last coaster we needed to ride to complete the park, excluding the closed Blue Hawk and Joker's funhouse coaster. We waited 20 minutes for Mine Train, and boy does the Arrow jank shine on this thing. We both agreed that we did not enjoy mine train, and it was our least favorite coaster at SFoG.
To round out our last hour, we rode Monster Mansion, which we both enjoyed its quiet boat ride and "cute" theming. With 30 minutes to go, we would get two more laps on Goliath to finish the day. We both agreed, that Goliath was our favorite at SFoG
THE GOOD:
None of the coasters are "bad", just a few mid-tier rides. The park was also mostly easy to navigate as first time guests, and every coaster except Blue Hawk was open. The fries also had good seasoning
THE NEUTRAL:
The park could benefit from some freestyles like Cedar Point, or at least refresh stations, I didn't see many stand alone stands.
THE BAD:
Lots of line jumping, with no easy way to report it that I could tell. Also the food operations could have been slightly faster IMO. Lastly, better mix of Flash Pass to standby, especially at Riddler.
Overall we both had a great day. 10 new credits for both of us and we both would consider going again, if we get a good deal on the airfare.
Counting down the days until I'm back at Cedar Point, the one and only place to be.
