First Trip To PKD

I'm going to go to PKD for my first time, so I was wondering:

1)What ride should I go to first?

2)Is there any fun flat rides that I should go on?

3)Extreme Rides 2000 said Volcano has the highest inversion on a coaster. Is this still true?

person: (how do you like that for a creative name - )

I think you should just go in the damn park and start riding.

You should have a great time if you do this.

I don't know about the Volcano stats and how they stack up against newer competitors. I'll leave that for the 'real' experts on this site!

Enjoy -

You should ride either Hypersonic or Volcano first, Hypersonic is low capacity and still the newest coaster at the park and Volcano is really popular. Yes I believe that the Volcano record still stands as far as inverts go.

Summer 03-CP, HP, Canobie, SFNE, SFWOA, and SFGAm.

Berserker, an inverting pirateship, is right on the main midway. I would ride this first, as they open it before they open the rest of the park. PKD is really lacking in flats, and what they do have (besides Berserker) are pretty tame. Your choices are a scrambler, scooters, Huss Troika, swings and a Chance Aviator. If you decide to ride Volcano first, take the pathway right behind Berserker and wait for the rope to drop.------------------
If you have a problem with clones, the solution is real simple—Stop traveling.
If it rains head to Grizzly. This is an excellent woodie rather hidden in the woods. Don't miss Scooby Doo. This John Allen junior is on of the firnest junior coasters around. Ride front row in Volcano if the line isn't too ridiculous. If it is too long for you go for second row.
By all means head to Grizzly,it's one of the better woodies in the park & is a must ride at night if you plan to stay after dark.

I would avoid riding berserker at all costs, that thing hurts your chest to no end due to the restraints used on the ride, however the hangtime while stopped upside down might be worth the pain.

When you get to the park, I suggest that you head to Volcano. Then if you want to ride a flat, the Scrambler is right beside it. Then head to Hypersonic or Drop Zone. Triple Spin, (the Huss Troika) is a pretty calm natured ride. You do get fairly high in the air, and your going around in circles at the same time. You should also ride the Anaconda. The lines aren't really ever that long. Whatever you do RIDE VOLCANO!
When I arrive at KD, I always go to the Action Theater first. So this year, I was treated to Spongebob. It was nice, but please bring back Days Of Thunder. Oops, anyway. If it's a coaster that you want to ride first. And seeing as how its your first time at the park. I'd save Volcano and Hypersonic till later. Grizzly and Rebel Yell are nice starts I say. Rebel Yell was the first coaster I rode in the park back in 1992 and it scared the crap out of me, but I was 9. But I still love it to this day. Basically, ride what you want, I'm just the type of guy who saves the best for last.

Like I've lived 40 minutes from Wild World/AdventureWorld/Six Flags America my whole life, and I never gone until finally last summer and fall. But I rode Wild One and others first, and worked my way up to Superman and Batwing. Same goes for this year when I head to Cedar Point for the first time. I am span of two days, I'm going to ride the "other" coasters first, before I get on Millennium Force and Dragster. But hey, that's me. As for you, knock yourself out.

like others have said:

volcano is prob your best bet to go to first. ride in the front seat if possible!! i cant stress that enough...the visuals and the speed felt in the front is great, but anywhere else just makes it even more boring than it is.

after volcano i suggest going straight over to FoF. i usually go for front on FoF. BTW, there are now extra color lights inside the ride, so you can see a little.

after FoF, work your way towards hypersonic. on the way, you can get a ride on anaconda and shockwave(which are the closest). also, try to get a quick ride on drop zone before you reach hypersonic.

for hypersonic, expect a VERY SLOW moving line, but the wait is usually about an hour. i really hate that they make you wait out in the midway, its very annoying. keep in mind that besides the people in the midway, the only others in line are the ones in the station, so the line is shorter than you might think. for hypersonic, i suggest riding in the back row. gives some insane ejector air on the crest of the tower, and on the bunny hill before the brakes.

good luck on your visit, hope you enjoy it.

G-Forces: The only positive addiction out there!
CoasterCount: 42

RUN TO VALCANO! They have these ticket boxes right by the entrance of the line, and if you grab one you can use it to enter in threw the exit and get right on the ride even the front seats are open. But these tickets go fast so hurry to get one. They refill them about noon, and they have them for XLC I think.XLC is a little overrated, and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Anyway if you dont want to wait in the long line go there about noon time when everybodys eating lunch. Shockwave and the Andaconda are rough at some points so prepare yourself, and they changed the flight of fears restaints, and tracks. They have lapbars instead of the ones that come over your head, but they took out a few inversions. To be honest I dont like/visit PKD much anymore, but I hope you have a blast.
SlipKnot, the track of FoF wasn't touched and no inversions were removed. Just the OSTR's were replaced with lap bar restraints, nothing else was changed.
