First time to Lake Compounce 8/25

Associated parks:
None

Was planning to go Lake Compunce 2day but cant sway any of my friends to go. They're only open 8 more days this season. Ill make it one way or another. Gotta check out Boulder Dash. I really hope it deserves its Top Wood ranking.

You won't see me coming...

Glad to see you enjoyed your first visit to the lake. While I am a huge fan of BD in the front as well, I also agree with you about Wildcat. Using the Griswold scale (which I am glad others are aware of) I would rate it at a -1. It is simply not an enjoyable ride anymore. Wildcat is however listed to be re-tracked in the near future, and hopefully that will improve the quality of the ride.
What do you mean it is listed to be retracked? And it was completley retracked in 1985. And i'm going to go ahead and assume wooden coasters aren't retracked all that often.

#1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!! M/M's top 10 coasters: 1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Boulder Dash 3. Montu 4. Yankee Cannonball 5. Kumba 6. Gwazi 7. Mind Eraser 8. Thunderbolt (SFNE) 9. Cyclone (SFNE) 10. B:DK
For the past couple of years it was said that the coaster would be reprofiled BACK to its original Schmeck design (removing the damage done by Curtis Summers in the late eighties) but that has yet to happen. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
I'm aware it has already been reprofiled in the 80's. I did however remember seeing a company(not sure which company) listing LC Wildcat as one of their upcomming projects on their website. If you're really that interested I'm sure you can just ask Jerry over at the LC forums, maybe plans changed. *** Edited 8/30/2004 8:53:46 PM UTC by The Dude***
M&V was listing the Wildcat as one of their projects for a while last year. It disappeared from their site without any explanation.

The Wildcat was more than retracked in the eighties, it was completely rebuilt from the ground up. I'm not sure what was saved but it wasn't much (maybe the lift chain and flywheel). Curtis Summers, working with Charlie Dinn, made some changes to the profile of the ride to make it more like his other uneventful coaster designs. Well, the designs that he claimed were his anyway.

BoulderDash may not have made my list of top-tier coasters, but *The Lake* as a whole was near-perfection for a PARK. The only thing that I'd improve (not from MY visit, but from *reliable sources*), is their decision-making process on when to add/remove the second train from BD...

Ghost Hunt is teh roXorz!!11!!

P.S. to Gonch...21 is not a prime number....but it IS *prime time*...:)

edit: Return to Schmeck that which came from Schmeck...is HP listening? ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Rob -

That's how I remember it as well. They removed the project from their website, and then I never heard any mention of it again. Although I didn't hear the rumors about changing it back to the original design. How much of the ride was changed when it was edited in the 80's?

Oh Christ, you're right. Either a momentary lapse in brain power (power outages are common :) ) or a typo.

Either way, I officially look like a moron. Great. :)
