First Time to CP 9/21

Associated parks:
None

The weather was perfect, and this was my first time to CP. It looked like it was going to be a great day.

1st. Raptor/45min/Front row 10/10

This coaster was awesome! I've only been on two other complete circuit inverts, and this one beat them both! PC's Top Gun was good, but wasn't too intense. And SFGAm's Batman had the perfect intensity, but way too short. This was such a great ride. Definetly in my top 5! Loved the first drop too!

2nd Millenium Force/1hr15min/middle, towards the back

8/10

Now I really liked this coaster but was a little disappointed. Well, first cause me and my friends wanted to ride the back seats, and we got in line for it. Then an operator told us to go to the middle seats, because no one was in line for them. I thought that kinda sucked. You wait that long, and they pick the seat for you?! The first drop was great, and it was intense, I just thought it lacked airtime. I only got it three times and the last two weren't that great. I really liked it. It's in my top ten, but was a little disappointed. I think maybe it's a little overhyped.

3rd Mean Streak/20min/back seat 2/10

What a horrible ride! It sucked! It was slow, painful, boring, and that noise was so irratating! Now I see why people have such a great distaste for this ride. A shame too, it looks like a really good ride, when you're not on it.

4th Gemini/15min/backseat 9/10

I loved this ride! It was so much fun. It had a lot of airtime! I mean, it wasn't scary, or intense, it was just sooo much fun. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard on a roller coaster. Cool thing too was we got to race our friends, and slap their hands.

5th Magnum/25min/backseat 7/10

This was much like Millennium Force. I was expecting more. It was pretty good but it was pretty rough. The tunnels were great though. It also had a great view of the lake. It was a good ride, it's just I was expecting more, though.

6th Corkscrew/5min/backseat 7/10

I gave it a good rating, because it's good for what it is. It wasn't great or spectacular. It had a good first drop though. I just thought, a coaster like this or Demon, wasn't meant to really thrill the future generations, like Raptor or Shockwave. It was fun but very short though.

7th Iron Dragon/10min/backsaet 5/10

This ride was okay. The begining really sucked. It was really boring. But I must say the finale was pretty good. Nothing great though. Though the scenery of it, going through the woods was a plus.

8th Mantis/30min/fornt seat 9/10

What are you people talking about?! This ride was great. It was so intense! All I hear are complaints of this ride! It's just like a longer, bigger version of Iron Wolf. Maybe it was more intense, because I rode it at night. I really liked it, I thought it was fast, and had great intesity. Though, while waitng in line for Millenium Force, I noticed, this ride needs a major paint job! It's so faded!

9th Blue Streak/5min/backseat 5/10

Not much. It was fun, had it's airtime, but a little on the rough side. It wasn't theat bad, but it wasn't that good.

10th Raptor(again)/20min/front

Is it just or does this ride go faster at night? My friends and I all agreed that it was way faster the 2nd time than it was during the day. I love this coaster!

11th Gemini(again)/10min/front

same as before. Great ride. Though I didn't like that they made us sit in the front, even though we weren't in line for it, just like MF. Also they didn't race it at night.

We didn't bother riding Wicked Twister becuase at our homepark we have V2. I know Wicked, is taller and different, but nobody really felt like riding it. It just did'nt attract us. CP is now my number two park. SFGAm is still number one to me, though CP is better, I''m just so attached to SFGAm. CP was far and was like a postitute, payed enjoyed, and got out. SFGAm is more like going to Grandma's house. You have memories there. I must say though, if I wasn't attached to SFGAm, CP would be my number park.

Sounds like a great day. Sorry you weren't too impressed with Millenium Force

You brought a smile to my face when you were talking about Gemini. It always makes me happy to see the trains pulling into the station, full of smiling people, laughing, clapping, and cheering. It's a classic, semi-intense ride that the whole family can enjoy, and the overall experience cannot be duplicated anywhere. I love that ride.

And as for us not racing at night, we almost always close down a side once the crowds die down. It's the same way in the mornings, we open with one side until we start getting a line. There's just no reason for us to run both sides when we're sending trains with 5 people in them.

He, he. I have fond memories of Gemini with only a handful of people on it, one side running, at night. My cousin and I just kept running straight from the exit to the que, again and again, hopping right on the train as soon as we reached the station. Several times people in front of us had been behind us on the previous ride, or vice versa. It was a wlid night. We were both on the amazing high that only your first ride on MAGNUM XL-200 can give you.

Sorry about your Magnum experience. Is it me or, was it running a little rough this year? Is that going to be permanent? Anyone know?

I know exactly what you mean, with regards to SFGAm vs. Cedar Point. SFGAm will always be first in my heart, but only becasue I went there first, and still go there so much more than CP. Truly, CP is the better park.

Roast Beef, the intensity of steel coasters don't increase as the day progresses, only wood (though Magnum seems to move a little faster after the first couple of hours). Hope you go back to the point though. If you do:

ride MF in the back seat, you will surely get airtime on the first hill.

ride Magnum in 1-3

and ride bs in the back, I always love that coaster in the back.

I went for my first time in July. I was also disapointed with MF and and I hated the way they pick your seat. I have to say I'm lucky though because I got a back seat ride. I agree with Raptor but I think Mean Streak and Magnum are great but then again I hated Mantis. By the way WT isn't much and V2 is better anyway.
I think you should get to ride any seat you want on all roller coasters. Its dumb how you can't. They shouldn't get to choose your seat for you. You waited in line, not them.

OoOoOo...Rolley Coaster!

Heheh, you can get whatever seat you want on Millenium Force, but not exactly through honest means... When you get to the station, join the line for the front seat. At this point, you may just want to stay there, as the front seat on a tall coasters is always something. But if it's something else you want, just wait there for a train or two. Then, act like you've decided the front is simply too long of a wait, desert, and meander over to whatever que you wish. I realized the beauty of this when I actually did wait for the front for a while, and then decided it was far too long of a wait. I got the second row, which had been taken right out from under my nose by the two people in front of me, previously.
I tried but they saw me and threatened to kick me out of the line.
Good TR - i'm glad you finally made it to the point. I pretty much agree with all of your opinions. MF was also a letdown for me, but i did wait almost 3 hours and by the time i got to the queue i was sunburnt, hungry, tired, and really really had to pee. Plus i didn't wait for the front, which i hear is the money seat. Oh, and I've ridden another Intamin ride called SUPERMAN: RIDE OF STEEL and that's about 10 times better.

(if anyone's ridden both and wants to dispute my opinion please feel free).

I also love Mantis and Raptor - it's the only park i know where they have my 2 favorite types of B&M's - and they're both intense!

V2 and S:UE are better IMHO than WT - i love that break on the back spike. But in all fairness i had to wait for an hour and a half to ride WT the day after i walked on S:UE for about 15 repeat rides, so my opinion may be a little biased. Plus, WT wasn't running to "full speed" while i was there (or so i'm told).

Also, I'm glad you liked gemini so much. It's my 4th favorite coaster overall because it's just so darn fun. If it were the only coaster in the park, i'd still pay $40 just to ride it all day!

good TR.

You and I have the same thing going with Mantis.

When you compare it to Iron Wolf, Mantis looks like heaven.

I'm really not sure what people expect out of it, but I can see how, if they don't ride a much, much worse standup first, they can be disappointed.

Raptor's better than Batman. Anyone who doesn't think so should be hit with a stick. (Ok, maybe not, but Batman is waaaay too short to justify waiting in that line for...)

Yay, another a Gmini fan. That ride doens't get enough attention. I love to do mini marathons on it. It's such a people eater, the wait has always been short on my numerous visits.

Glad you made it to The Point. I don't understand why they would not let you wait for the last seat on MF, they should have just got the next two people out of the line for the middle seat. The last seat does give you more air on all the hills, but MF is more about speed than air.

Mantis is a great coaster, I love it too.

Sometimes Raptor does seem faster at night. I was there Oct. 5 and my night ride was great. There were no trim brakes before the second hill, but someone said that was because of the wind slowes the ride a little and did not need the brakes.

Mean Streak needs to loose some of the trims. First half of the ride is not too bad, second half after the trims almost puts you to sleep.

Try Magnum and Millennium at night. Wow is that a rush. That fast not seeing where you are going.

I fully agree with MFM. My two favorite seats in the park. Milly backseat (at night) and Maggie 1-3

It's all about getting around the barrels or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and still looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

There really IS airtime on MF, and you can feel it in the back. Too bad they made you fill up the middle seats. I've never had that problem.

Currently, MF is my favorite steel, non-inverted, although Raging Bull was awesome and is in my second spot. As much as I like B&M coasters, I have a feeling that Nitro could overtake both, if I ever get to ride it.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

They were probably waiting for the second to last seat or something. The rules on MF go "Wait for front seat, wait for back seat, all other seats are first-come-first-serve"

We do it for capacity reasons. It's easier to fill an entire train (have 0 or 1 single rider instead of 4 or 5) if there aren't a bunch of people on the platform blocking it. And believe me it DOES make a difference. Those 4 or 5 single riders we pair up allow 2 or 3 more couples into the station and thus make the line move faster. And you people who knowingly get in line for the front when you just want to pick and choose your seat, SHAME ON YOU. A pox on your house. I actually can tell when people are going to do it and usually guide them away from it (crowd control, the position where you fill the train, is my favorite position to work). Don't think we as ride ops are stupid. We can tell when someone has sincerely had enough waiting for the front seat and wants to move and we can also tell when they only got in line for it so they could sit in 1-2.

I think if I were an op on Millennium, my favorite job would be where the people exit the train. WELCOME BACK RED TRAIN... HOW WAS YOUR RIDE? :) The worst job would be at the front of the queue when you would have to turn away a child who was just barely under the 48". How many times have we all seen it, a little kid all bummed out because he is still too short to ride. I know it is the right thing to do, but I would hate to have to.

The worst day at Cedar Point is better than the best day at work.

The only problem with unload dispatch, the position where you use the PA on the unload platform, is that you're stuck out in the sun/cold weather/rain and unprotected from the elements, whatever they may be at the time. And by STUCK I mean you have to STAND right there and can't leave.

Plus, you have to hold down the button and it starts to hurt your finger after awhile.

Entrance isn't so bad. On MF you barely get any kids you've gotta turn away, most of the borderline kids are too afraid of it anyway. Now on MINE RIDE that's a different story...

Try MF in the front seat..............

I love Iron Wolf and Mantis! Stand-ups 4-ever!
