First SFMM Trip, any advice?

I am going to SFMM for the first time in January. How are the crowds like on a Friday in January(Fri, Jan. 3)? Are the lines long?

I want to ride X, Goliath, Riddler's Revenge, Psyclone, S:TE, Ninja, Colossus, Flashback, Deja Vu, Revolution Viper, and Gold Rusher. I have seen a map of the layout and i am not sure where the ride entrances are. I don't really want to run across the park back and forth, so what is a good order to ride the rides so I don't run all across the park!? Also, any other advice is greatly appreciated!

Run with the bulls for X. Then head to Deja and S:TE. These are both in the back of the park and have relatively bad capacity. However, S:TE sometimes opens late (well, so do a lot of rides) so if you can catch it right when it opens you can get a few walk ons before the lines build up. By this time, most lines will be at their equilibrium, so it doesn't matter what order you do. Of course, at this time of year, it shouldn't matter anyway, because most of the lines will be shorter.

Chances are not all of those rides will be open. Since SFMM is open year round, the off season is the only time that they have to close down rides for rehab.

As for the pattern, take ApolloAndy's advise for the first 3 rides X, DV, Superman and get the slowest moving lines out of the way first. After that go this way... Ninja, (down the hill towards roaring rapids) to Psyclone. From there follow the circle to Goldrusher, Riddler, Batman, Colossus, Goliath, Flashback, Revolution then Viper. It makes for just a bit of backtracking, but it's the pattern I would use.

Cut Flashback off your list. The last time someone rode Flashback was open was in April (unless it just opened by chance). Its more SBNO than open for bussiness. There are rumors it would open in the winter, but they might be false. Riddlers revenge should be out of rehab by the time you get there.

Keep in mind you're going on a day most of the metropolitan area school kids have vacation. Crowds might be a problem, but good thing you're not going on saturday.

I for one think crowds will be non-existant for you. I went on the last Friday of Xmas vacation last year and the park was dead.

I'd second Andy's suggestion of X and Deja first, but I would then hit Psyclone while I'm there and work my way around to the front of the park, doing Gold Rusher, Riddler, Batman, Colossus, Goliath, Canyon Blaster, Log Jammer, Revolution, and Viper. Then, head up the hill for Superman. Ninja is up there as well, but is very iffy this time of the year as it does not run in cold weather.

Have fun, and make sure you go to X first...give them at least an hour to get it going, and ride in the front seat!

Riddlers Revenge is still down for rehab. I was there last weekend. Flashback is still closed, as stated earlier. Ninja was the worst turnover, with one train, but Superman was closed for 45 minutes, and of course, everyone stopped to take a ride. I had less than 10 minutes wait on everything else, and Viper, Revolution, anfd Goliath were walk ons.

Will Sat. be jammed with kids? That's when I was thinking of going.

Which rides have on-ride photos at SFMM?

X, Riddler's, Goliath, Viper, Colossus (I am not sure, though), and one other. Sorry, I have only been to the park once.

LOL I'm one who has a VERY VERY bad trip when I went there on those exact days you are going. I'm not saying that SFMM is bad park...but the people WHOAHHhhhh I think it was gangster appreciation day when I was there on those days (jk) ;) But it sure felt like it. We knew it was the "offseason" and a lot of rides would be down, which they were. They had only two flats running, but I don't think SFMM is known for their flat rides. Overall it is definetly worth going to if you haven't been there. Best advice, is just enjoy it. Take as much in as you can. If it starts to overwhelm you head up to Knott's Berry Farm where it's a totally different clientel. Though, I can say I've been back since then, and it was A LOT different MANY times. The offseason is a strange time to visit SFMM, but hey, it beats any Ohio Park that time of year!! Enjoy your trip. And eat before you go into the park, because I think a lot of their food stands and stores will be down for repairs, cleaning, etc. that time of year.

Haunted Ohio Parks...you've been warned!!

Riddlers revenge is now back open. Hopefully they'll have Flashback up too next weekend. Yeah, if SFMM's clientely bothers you, go to knotts, DL, or DCA, which attract families (well, Haunt sometimes draws a very very bad crowd).
I hope they didn't hurt my RR baby? It's my favourite coaster on the planet! :o)
I am going Dec. 28th, It's a sat. so how do you think lines will be?

I dont want to sound like an @$$, but there is no accurate way for us to predict what the lines will be like in the future. I could always consult my Magic 8 Ball. Just take the advise we already gave and hope for the best. If crowds are heavy, then you have a good way around them, if crowds are light, great!
