First park of 2014?

This year, as in recent years my first trip will most likely be our annual "Music In The Parks" trip to Dorney. I will act as a chaperone to the band, chorus and orchestra.

It's always a nce day...especially if the weather is good.

Can't wait...I need to go to a park again. (It's been a tough winter weatherwise in the Northeast, but it's been even worse in the mid west.

Hope we can all hang in there.

Here's To Shorter Lines & Longer Trip Reports!

Wife is pregnant, so probably keeping it local this year with LakeCompounc/SFNE combo days. And maybe a trip to SFGA.

Its a step down after 65 coasters last year summer.

I was getting ready to say that my first park will be Holiday World for HWN, like the last 5 years, then I remembered that I went to Kemah Boardwalk and Galveston Pleasure Pier a couple of weeks ago. Obviously made a huge impression on me.

I'm hoping for Kings Island. I am over Cedar Point, but if I get another season pass, I might do both. I would also like to go to Holiday World. But will have to check on their operating schedule. But, with the water park, it seems like more of a mid summer place. If I go to Kings Island, it will be in June. Then save Cedar Point for Halloweekends.

Can you use your seasone pass to get into cedar point on halloweekends?

I didn't do it! I swear!!

Only if you're over it.

TR, if you're already fed up with Cedar Point, the crowds during Halloween will likely give you an aneurysm, from what I've heard.

My first park is almost always Dorney, but it might actually be Cedar Point, Kennywood, or SFNE this year...there are a few options this year for once. So excited!

As a poor person, I don't expect to visit any park this year. I'll be keeping track of what parks are doing though, it's almost like being at them.

I think we have a serial Plus 1'er in our midst....

Maybe I should type something. I could use the points.

My son and I go every Friday night (wx permitting) during HW. Not bad crowds at all. Now the Saturday crowds, forget it. But on Friday night, the Saturday crowds are still driving in.

I visited Cedar Point for the first time in years during one of the last Halloweekend Fridays last year, and the crowds were just a little too large for my liking. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to because of the large crowds, but because I took my mom with me, we still had fun.

Come to think of it, I've been to 8 parks this year, which is 7 more than I went to in all of 2013. Almost went to Kemah Boardwalk yesterday, but the coaster is closed for maintenance.

I hate it when this happens.

Answer my Prayers, Overbook my next Flight!

You'd hate it more if they didn't close the coaster for maintenance :)

Can I change my answer? I forgot that I'll be in Las Vegas next week. I'll probably try and make it over to Circus Circus to try their new El Loco coaster. Looks interesting.

^For the most part, it's Steel Hawg indoors with minor modification to fit the space. REALLY interesting ride, a lot of action packed into a small footprint.

And that's why it looks interesting... I've never ridden Steel Hawg, so I'm eager to check it out. I've seen it on one of the TV shows and it looks fun.

It is fun. We'll be in Vegas just for a couple overnights toward the end of February and I hope to get to Circus Circus and check it out. A new ride credit for me, if all goes well, and it's only February!
Do I understand correctly that this new one does not have the beyond vertical drop? That and the reverse banked turn were the best parts of Steel Hawg, IMO.

Dollywood's opening day or Banshee's Media Day. :)

Looks like the drop is straight vertical, not beyond. Besides that, it looks very similar until the end. At the end Steel Hawg does a descending zero-g roll. El Loco does an extended inverted dive. Not sure if that's the correct name, but it's like the final inversion on Mystery Mine. And it looks awesome! This is based on Youtube videos.

I cannot wait to ride it.
