I've noticed that on the first drops of inverted coasters that they go more to the side of the way they dropped. Like on Raptor and Batman: The Ride, they each sway to the right before straigtening out. They also go to the opposite side right before they go through other inversions such as zero-G rolls.
Is this to cause less stress on the body and prevent too many lateral g's.

Anybody know what inverted has the steepest drop? Or are they all about the same degree? I heard somewhere that Top Gun:Jet Coaster was the steepest.

Have you ever gotten the feeling that you've been here before? Six Flags Magic Mountain 2001...
I'm not sure if Top Gun is the steepest or not, although for me its the best! Top Gun's drop is only 113 feet yet it goes 62 mph! I believe Raptor's is like 131 and it only goes 58 mph.

I personally like the swoop on inverteds, Its drop gives a totally different sensation then the standard sit down. It makes sense that they're might be a g factor with the swoop.

You build it, I'll ride it
You can actually tell the difference between 58mph and 62mph?
I didnt really say that but Top Gun's drop has something that I cant get on Alpie or Raptor and thats "feeling". You can feel the speed and acceleration and all of the elements. Its one of those rides that isnt the biggest, but its an incredible ride.

I know the Red Dragon on Dueling Dragons has one intense drop.

Mellenium Force; The future is riding on it.
Yes, I like the swooping drops on inverted coasters. I especially back row, right side, at night, on Raptor.

Well I for one am NOT a big fan of swoop drops. I think that was the worst concept Arrow ever came up with. Unfortunately, B&M jumped all over it. I will admit, however, that I can stand the curved drop more on inverteds than on sitdowns. BTW, StarC: I agree, Top Gun is the best darn invert I've ridden. It's not quite as intense as batman or fire dragon, but the variety of elements that is does have and the fact that it has a batwing rather than a cobra roll, makes it sweet to me. One other big plus IMO, NO BRAKES!!! (well, besides the final ones of course :))

I've always had a fear of hieghts and for a long time, that kept me off a lot of coasters. The first really tall coaster I rode had a curving swooping drop and I picked that because I found the height to be less intimidating then a straight drop. I'll ride all coasters now but I still find the swooping drop to be less scary then a straight drop.
Am I the only one who thinks Raptor's drop is the greatest inverted drop there is? Its becuase of one reason...it's straight and not swooping like other inverteds which creates the greatest "drop" sensation in your stomach. It gets me everytime!!! It grabs my stomach more than even MF or Magnum!
I didn't really feel it my stomach.(only in back right). But it is cool how you almost hit a candy stall. And it does have less swoop than most inverteds.

No you are not CP cyclone. I love the drop on Raptor no matter where ya sit it is just DOPE!

No, CPcyclone. Your not alone. I'll admit Raptor does have a very unique drop. Only if everyone would ride the back right to truly find out how great (the drop) it actually is.
Raptor has a fun, flirty drop, since it drops down tilts you to the left and plunges you down...very fast.
Alpengeist looks like it has the best drop of all the inverteds I've seen. However, I've only been on Raptor and S:UE, so I can't really judge.

I have to agree that the curving , swoopin drop is unexciting. Personally, I would love to have all coasters have just straight drops, that's probably why I love hypers so much. Come to think of it, I never feel the heart-pounding sensation on the first drop of steel looping coasters. To me, that's what disappointing about them. All the other elements are sweet, but the first drop sucks! WHYYYYY????
Lynch, same here. I always here about how Raptor's drop is the greatest, but I can't compare it to anything. Hopefully if all goes well this year, I'll be able to ride Batman: The Ride at SFGAm.
Raptors drop is better that Batman's, Batman's is no feeling at all, although the rest of the ride is very intense.
