First Coaster with a on ride photo?

What was the first coaster with a on ride photo.

Army Rangers lead the way
The earliest I know of would be Loch Ness Monster, 1978. Quite possibly one of the earlier Disney coasters though.

Loch Ness did not have an on ride photo when it opened as far as I can recollect.

What? Are you sure? I don't think it had an on-ride photo originally, they may have added one in later. Especially in 1978, unless it was taking a ton of poloroids and throwing most away, I don't think the technology was good enough yet.
I didn't see any on-ride photos until later, my first one is from Magnum XL-200 in 1989, but I can't remember if that was the first one I saw or not. By 1990 pratically every new coaster had them, and they added them to most old coasters (and log rides, etc.) The second oldest one I have is from SFMM's Viper from 1990.

My guess is that they added it to an existing coaster first... I hope some other buzzers can clear this up, I am curious too!

Loch Ness Monster had an on-ride photo added in the 1994 season. It didnt originally have it.

As far as the first, I kno of GASM (sfgadv) that had it in 1989 (but so did magnum)

How much more floorless can they get?

Isn't there some Vekoma boomerang out there built in 1988 that had a camera? I vaguely remember seeing a picture somewhere...

I always thought it was Viper at SFMM, opened in 1990.  They made a huge deal out of it then...
Hmmmmm.... lessee....

Disney's first one was Splash Mtn. at Disneyland in 1989. The most recent Disney Ride was Space Mtn. at Disneyland who got it in May.

The first ride with pictures I remember was Jet Stream (now arrowhead splashdown) back when Ninja opened in 1988.

Hey something I know about, from working in Ride Photo at Cedar Point for two years, I can answer this question it was the Magnum XL 200. It opened the year after the ride opened. The very first place the photo was taken? Was on top of the first hill. The supervisor at Cedar Point has been involved in Ride photo since the beginning.
Badboy, I'm not trying to undermine you or anything like that.  But I believe that Splash Mountain's on ride photo was actually installed in the early-mid nineties.  I don't think it was there when the ride first opened...

I always thought it was the two Demon rides at the two Great Americas. Maybe because they're so primative looking.

Splash Mountain didn't get a on-ride photo until later... I know because I went there when it opened (3 1/2 hour wait...ouch) Later they put it in and it does seem like it was there permanently, since you see you picture before you get off the ride.
As for Jet Stream, I am pretty sure they didn't get one until later as well. I know that the first on-ride at SFMM was on Viper, and I don't think they added it to any of their previous rides until later. I could be wrong though, to tell you the truth the first time I went on Viper was during the winter of 1990, so I didn't go on any water rides that visit.

sbens0181 says that Magnum was the first one, and I agree. I thought my photo from that was taken in 1989 but I remember now that I went there in early 1990, not in 1989 as I first thought. The date on the card says 1989 but I am pretty sure I went during the spring of '90.

It's funny how lousy the old ones look. My Magnum one doesn't even look like me, and the Viper one is extremely blurry and grainy. The funniest ones I have are from flying dutchmans, but everybody looks weird in those.

Are there any photos for any free-fall rides? I haven't been on a gyro or stand up drop yet, only the first two generations of Intamin freefalls and some S&S's. None have had photos yet, but if they took it right before you dropped, it would be funny to see everyone's expressions. Especially for a S&S Turbo Drop like Supreme Scream.

Wait, The Demon at PGA  was converted from the Turn Of The Century in 1980, and TTOTC was opened in 1976 the same year both Marriott's Great America's opened.

The Demon on-ride photos were added around 1993. I know it was after Vortex because that was the first ride in the park with them. (1991)

The first one I can remember is Shockwave at SFGAm. I remember knowing where the camera was because of the flash, and thinking that was a big deal. Maybe not the first, but def. one of them. Most of people's guesses seem to be Arrow coasters. Maybe Arrow came up with this idea ?
