I use the little Gemini controller adapter to use my PS2 pads with the Xbox, so that means no slot to connect the communicator. I can't talk trash to the other players. Although it turns out that most appear fairly cordial, generally saying "good game" or whatever at the end. The only negative is that my name appears with an icon indicating I'm using a controller and not a pad.
Not that it matters, because I'm so out of practice that I'm too rusty to beat any of these kids. It'll take a little time to get back into it, but it really gives a new interest for the game for me. With Extreme for PS2 next month and UltraMix 2 in November, there's more to look forward to.
I haven't bought any of the downloadable songs. Does anyone have any opinions on those groups of songs?

Well, if you're really curious without wanting to spend the money...
1 - download and install Stepmania on your PC
2 - go to www.ddruk.com and sign up with an account
3 - go to their download section under 'officials', and download some of the service pack songs
4 - play them on Stepmania and see if your interested.
I only find < 50% of the songs in each SP are worth the price (Outer Limits, Battle Breaks, Fire Dub, Mind Parasite, Something Wonderful)... so if you're looking for the best ones of the group, I'd say SP2 and SP5 (best new songs are in SP2, best returning grouping are in SP5).
