Holiday Park's Expedition GeForce takes this year's title in the Internet Steel Coaster Poll. Six Flags New England's Superman: Ride of Steel came in second, but is still quite a margin ahead of Millennium Force and Nitro which repeated at #3 and #4, respectively.

Big surprise....

Darn, I can't believe the Vekoma rollerskater didn't win!
So has anyone here ridden Nitro AND Silverstar and can explain why they are at opposite ends of the list and have such similar layouts?
I know people say it's the trims, but is that really all?
Is anyone having problems accessing this web site? Because when I try to visit this site I get a message that says "site not allowed exceeded allocated data transfer".

The thing *I* find most interesting is that CP coasters like Maggie and Raptor had more riders than "My Favorite SLC" and "My Favorite Boomerang".

Still dont think the internet coasting community is "Point-centric"?

A big "thanks" to Mitch for doing these 2 polls. What a great service to the coaster community!
Nitro and Silver Star while large and fast are a bit tamer than the Intamin Hypers or well how do I put it tamer than the earlier B&M Hypers ie. Apollos Charriot and Raging Bull

It isn't so bad. . .
Once you're used to it

That wasn't the question. The question was why Silver Star is WAY WAY lower than Nitro. In General Buzz, there's a topic with some ideas.

Nitro elements stand out more, the hills are larger, and look at the setting in the woods next to the lake next to the parking lot. SS looks like a good coaster I wished it was higher on the list to help represent b&m for making good hypers.Whizzer boi these aren't any tamer than the other two if anything they are more intense.

If I remember correctly, Silver Star is trimmed so badly there isn't any air time.

Andy,

I can't answer your question, but I can offer FWIW that all six of the people who had ridden both and took the poll preferred Nitro.

1 of 12 mutual riders actually did prefer Silver Star to EGF, whereas EGF was preferred to Nitro 6-0.

Mitch, on the wood poll this year, #10 had a higher win percentage than #9. Can you explain this? I thought the rankings were based solely on that number.

I think that the design is slightly tamer on Silver Star- but as Wolf accurately stated- the trims (at least 3) really rob this coaster of almost all potential airtime. It probably tied with the roughness of TdZ as the most disappointing coaster of the mainland part of the ACE trip. (for me at least)

Silver Star is a coaster designed by Europa Park, or Mack (whatever?)...

Nitro is designed by B & M, and has nothing to do with Silver Star.

I have only ridden Silver Star, but as far as I know, Nitro should be a hell lot better. Silver Starm is pretty trimmed...

silver star is designed by bnm and fabricated by mack. Sinse bnm never fab their own rides anyway it (useally giovanola or some other company in ohio does it) it is just as much a bnm as nitro. Nitro is trimmed too but not that much and the air is still there.

Another big surprise! The Geosites Web sight SUCKS!

Nitro has a trim at the top of the third hill which is barely noticable and at the valley of the third drop which isn't on, until you get to the MCB those are the only 2 trims that you don't really notice.

Trim at the top of the third hill? The only trim I remember is in the valley before the overbanked turn, and trust...I was looking!!

That's the only one I remember as well. I just don't understand why Europa would kill their new potentially awesome ride down to #76...
