Fiesta Texas GM headed for Georgia

Six Flags Fiesta Texas GM Melinda Ashcraft will move to Six Flags Over Georgia where she'll assume the role of senior vice president and GM of Six Flags Over Georgia. She previously worked as a teen at the park and spent time at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

Man SFI seems to have a real desire to rotate managers from park to park for the upcoming season.

I guess you can call it a managment rotation program, much like their ride rotation program...let's hope it works out for the company so they'll see a better profit next year.

SFoG had to replace John Odum with another GM because he chose to leave the position. He is now, and correct me if I am wrong, the Vice President of a new Six Flags Regional Office, with the office being located in Atlanta. The parks that he looks after are: SFoG, SFKK, SFFT, SFNO, and a few others. Maybe Robert can fill in the gaps, or anyone else that attended the Fall Finale at SFoG in November.
Ironically, Melinda Ashcraft was moved from SFKK to Fiesta to replace John Odum when he was moved from Fiesta to SFOG. Looks like she's following him around.

We will miss her dearly, she was a very visible GM at Fiesta, and made enthusiasts feel very welcomed.

"....and spent time at Kentucky Kingdom".....did she get paroled early for good behavior? J/K, LOL.....:)

Rampage, I believe you have it "spot on", but add in SFA as ONE of those "others"...IIRC.

I understand that Odum was one of the better ones in the Six Flags organization.
John Odum was appointed Executive Vice President for the (new) Central Division of Six Flags Inc. He will be based in Atlanta, and oversee operations at SFOG, SFNO, SFFT, SFSL, SFKK, SFA, associated water parks and other attractions. (From the news reports I'm assuming this is one of the 5 positions created with the departure of Gary Story.)

Melinda Ashcraft was an original employee when SFOG opened to the public in 1967, and continued to work at the park - finally as the Director of Food Services. In 1998 she was promoted to the GM position at SFKK. After her stint there (she oversaw the ACE Con), in 2001 she left for SFFT when Odum left for SFOG.

Both are considered "walking around" managers - very knowledgeable about the parks and the people who work there. Odum's tenure at SFOG has significantly improved customer survey satisfaction results, and his promotion looks to be the SFI acknowledgment that something has been going right at the park. Hopefully things will continue to improve at the Georgia properties, as well as the entire Central Divsion.

So John Odum being promoted to a Vice President sounds like a good thing to me and makes me happy that SFA is now in the central region.

Melinda's promotion sounds like a positive for SFoG. I was at SFFT over the summer and really enjoyed the park.

Speaking of "walk around managers" I've seen Janet Porter(SFA VP/GM) walking around the park a few times in the past couple of years.

The last time I happened to run into her was upon arrival at the park once in 03...she was helping out & observing the conditions of the entry plaza.

Maybe she'll get rid of that horrible Diesel engine and bring back the steam trains for the Railroad.

I'm also glad to see she's been with the company since 1967. The people I've talked to say she is a very "hands-on" manager.

Huzzah! Out with the good and in with the better.
