Favorite Stand-Up

Moderators, please don't close this, because I really want some answers. No arguing here. Just which one and why. Do you like B&M's or TOGO stand-ups better and which ones overall have you ridden? Why do you like that one best? If you have not ridden more than one, DO NOT reply.

My favorite stand-up is King Cobra at PKI, because:
1)B&M trains are uncomfortable
-extra large banana seats
-really big restraints
-can't see very well unless in front row
2)B&M coasters are too forceful and unhealthy with too much
-hurt legs, knees, calves, feet, etc.
3)KC has a lot of airtime
4)KC has a lot of restraints but are overall much more comfortable
5)KC has fewer elements but they pack a punch
6)B&M's take very long to pass through each element and the pacing I would give the analogie-KC is to B&M SU as BTR is to Raptor in this sense
7)I'm sure there's more

I've ridden King Cobra, Mantis, Iron Wolf, and Georgia Scorcher.

What I'd love to happen-add a floorless or sitdown train to those B&M coasters and watch the rides rise to the tops of favorite lists. Some people just don't like stand-ups. Sitdowns are for anyone. You can leave a stand-up trains on, just add an extra queue.

List in Order:
1)King Cobra
2)Iron Wolf
3)Georgia Scorcher
4)Mantis

Riddler's Revenge - Hands Down!!

BMCOASTER

NO doubt about it, Riddler's Revenge is my favorite standup and the best in the world!
Following in the footsteps of Koaster King (in the way he posted that is). I've ridden the Shockwave @ PKD, Vortex @ PGA, and The Riddler's Revenge @ SFMM. I must say the RRv takes the gold by a whole mile or even two and covers the other two in black and green DUST. I prefer the B&M stand-ups over the Togos (or anything Togo). Why?

1)Togo stand-up trains are UNCOMFORTABLE
- A TWO PIECE restraint! Harness & Lap Bar!?
- Thin, weak, and hard seats
- Small, practically un-padded, side folding restraints (c'mon!)
- Inarticulate trains makes motions jerky
- Un-adjustable seats

2)All Togo stand-ups are relatively short in duration of the ride
- Far less loading capacity
- Togo stand-ups only do one kind of inversion

3)B&M stand-up trains are more comfortable
- Adjustable seats
- Articulated rows of cars allow better transitions through elements
- Padded restraints
- Roomy & Spacious
- Better protection for male riders than Togo trains ;)

4)Togo stand-ups lack good ride elements
- Only one inversion (vertical loop)
- One 360° Helix
- One 90 FT drop
- One brake run
- A pair of intentional painful bunny hops (on a stand-up)
- Oh like that's fun...

5)Other comparisons :
- No Togo stand-up has gone higher than 100 FT
- No Togo stand-up has had more than 1 inversion
- No Togo stand-up has exceeded 2,500 FT in track
- No people have ever died on a B&M stand-up
- All Togo stand-ups are near clones of each other

The highest a Togo stand-up has gotten : 95 FT
The highest a B&M stand-up has gotten : 156 FT

The fastest a Togo stand-up has gotten : 51 MPH
The fastest a B&M stand-up has gotten : 65 MPH

The most inversions on a Togo stand-up : 1
The most inversions on a B&M stand-up : 6

The longest Togo stand-up track : 2,231
The longest B&M stand-up track : 4,370

Mantis by a long shot. I've ridden Mantis, Iron Wolf, King Cobra, and Batman: The Escape. All four are great, but Mantis takes the cake. Mantis is much more intense and action-packed than the others. But I haven't ridden the new ones like Chang and RR -- hopefully that'll happen this year. :)
Riddler's Revenge by far. I've ridden Mantis, Iron Wolf Riddler's Revenge, aand Batman: The Escape. I love how the vertical loop goes right over the lift hill.
Of the ones I've ridden:
1. CHANG: smooth, fast and very aerobatic. I really loved the diving loop.
2. King Kobra: It looks like a baby ride sitting there next to Sonny but the "standing air" (pun intended) on the bunny hops and the powerful helix deliver.
3. Iron Wolf: If for no other reason than the whip-diving turn in the second half of the ride. That showcases B&M's talent with transistions.
4. Mantis: a fun ride with the "twister" section at the end. Haven't ridden it post 1st drop trim.
5. Vortex (Carowinds): *Yawn* this coaster just really didnt do anything. I thought only the new B&M were supposed to be "forceless"
6. Shockwave (PKD): Tried Once Got Off. Ok, actually I've ridden it twice. The second time was just not pleasureable. I'll ride it again, but the dive into the helix was really jerky.
That will do it for me....

Well, I have only been on Mantis and King Cobra...I was also on the Stand-Up at SFMM before Riddler's Revenge. I think it was called Shockwave. Anyway, B&M is much more comfortable than TOGO in my mind. I also like the custom feel of B&M's. I have a feeling that Mantis, RR and Chang are not too far off, because Mantis is fantastic!

I have been on...
King Cobra
Shockwave (@SFMM, now Batman:TE)
Riddler's Revenge
Vortex (PGA)
Mantis

Riddler is the only one that I can honestly say I enjoyed. The rest have a varying degree of pain involved. The transitions and pullouts on RRv are big enough to not hurt, and the sheer size and length make it worth the 1-2 hour line it so often has.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
I don't like stand-ups (including RR). They feel too muck like "spin and puke" rides.

I believe I can fly,
I believe I can touch the sky.
Only ridden 2: Iron Wolf @ SFGAm and King Cobra @ PKI. Have to pick King Cobra as the better of the two.

I'm going to SFKK Invasion so I'll got to ride Chang. I've tried numerous times to get on Mantis @ CP but the wait times were always way too long. Maybe this year.

KoasterKing:
You have got some weird ideas about coasters, (such as CP's). King Cobra, the best stand-up? How can you say that every one of CP's coasters was a mistake and think that King Cobra is the best??
I like Chang, and speaking of Chang, does anyone know if SFKK is open from April 15-21? It says on the main page that they will be open but on the calender it says that it is closed. Could Someone please help me out here

I like King Cobra due to its airtimes and flining-ness. Its also not forceful on my legs, and I can raise my arms easier.

The train design is not all that grand, but its still a decent ride for me.

Iron Wolf is my second favorite, followed by mantis and Chang
Hey dont forget bout Intamin's Stand ups! Ive only been on one...so it my favorite would be Batman-The Escape at SFAW!
I`ve only been on 2 stand-ups: King Cobra and Mantis. I love King Cobra by far because when I rode Mantis I was in pain practically the wholoe ride because of the stress on my legs. Mantis is the only coaster that I have evere riden that I wanted to get off before it was over. Also, B&M stnd-ups don`t have any good helixes or airtime like the togos!
RR changed my life when i first rode it i sinply hated it becuaser of little intamin had his feelings hurt in a big way. Then i rode in the Front of Mantis and i said he little intakin how do you feel and he replied great. A few months later another ride on RR and this time the front and again i asked him how did he feel and he simply repliead good.

It has to do with preference , pain, and opinion. And I didn't say every one was. Re-read that (closed) topic. I only listed 6-7 and never said they should've been removed or never made. i just didn't think that was the right time. I thought a steel sitdown looper would've been a better bet instead of Raptor at the time. Then they could've built Mantis anyway in '96 and then Raptor as the biggest in 98-99. I was thinking of what would've been better for CP. I guess I'm just too smart to understand. ;) I guess I said a ot of things that you just can't say out loud without getting bashed like a record-breaking CP woodie. ;) again.

And who keeps deleting my very researched and intelligent post and reply to kraxle's message. Rrrrr! You like me to look dumb don't you....Jeff? :(

MANTIS! I love Mantis. Second place is KC (its the only other stand up I've rode).

Mantis is ok. I had more headbanging problems on it then I did with the stand up factor. I would probably like to ride something that's a little more spread out as opposed to being squezed into such a small area.
