Thirty years ago, a day of fun turned into a day of terror and tragedy when a fire took the lives of eight teenagers trapped inside the Haunted Castle attraction at Six Flags Great Adventure on May 11, 1984.

Wow...thirty years. I was in that castle the week before, even though walk-thru haunted houses scared the living hell out of me back then..I was about to hit my 20's, but age didn't matter. Then this happened, and I was even more frightened of them.

Saw this article earlier today on FB. While certainly tragic, this incident led to increased fire safety measures throughout the US, which have saved counltess lives since.
