Exciting! My wife and I have said that when this was done that we would go back to Japan… just not during the summer.

Is the summer too hot, too busy, or something else?

So hot. I’ve never been more uncomfortable in my life and culturally swimming pools are not really a thing like they are in the US. My wife had to run a cold bath to soak her feet!

I learned this year that swimming pools are huge in Iceland. TMYK

Just don't make the mistake we made and go during New Years week. It's a national holiday and the line for Raging Spirits got up to three and a half hours. Keep in mind that Sinbad was practically walk on.

They can definitely use this extra capacity.

I find it interesting each section gets a highly themed restaurant, not to mention the New Hotel has like 3 as well, and accessible from the Park.

I still think the Animal Kingdom lodge should have been on the perimeter of the park, or above the entrance like Paris.

I also think this expansion feels like the answer to Epic Universe (and most of its Ideas were brainstormed for the FL MK first) it's just in Japan, not Florida.

Of course, we shall see if Iger lets Imagineering fix the AK Beastley Kingdom/Dinoland problem in under 6 years!

If you are trying to maintain the illusion of a vast safari...presumably for the guests and the animals, then having a hotel visually intruding on the Kilimanjaro Safaris may not be the best way to accomplish that.

I was thinking about that... the sight lines in this area have to be pretty awful.

I think it wasn't quite the scale of the current lodge, and looked more like the Crown Colony House at BGT did when first built, but 4 times the size it could work on the edge, without ruining site lines.

Or you could do those really fancy Yurts.

Also when Everest was added a whole Tibetan spa-like retreat spa hotel could fit on the left side of Asia and have access also from the back.

I just find it crazy Tokyo and Paris have had Hotels within the parks since the early 90s and WDW and especially AK with all the room in the world hasn't capitalized on this, and Universal is going to beat Disney at their own game.

But we have not had a really great themed Hotel post-Eisner (save for Aulani under Joe Rhode) cause Chapek hired people from modern Vegas, and each new DVC property looks like a fancy apartment building.

Why would you want a hotel in a park? I can't think of a single reason to do that. Yacht/Beach Club and Boardwalk are close enough to Epcot. You can walk from Contemporary to Magic Kingdom. Animal Kingdom Lodge basically has an extension of the park's safari.

Also not sure why there has to be another themed hotel. Room inventory is pretty full most of the time as is.

When was Epic Universe first announced? The DisneySea expansion was under construction when I was there in 2019.

To charge more?

I guess, but the price of a monorail hotel room is already pretty high. And again, sight lines. If you're into immersive themes, a wall of windows visible from all the places does not exactly create an illusion of escape.

I guess it depends on how it's done.

If you're emulating a real place, sure. Not sure I'd want to see a hotel from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

You can see the Contemporary from quite a few Magic Kingdom attractions. And don't get me started on the Swan and Dolphin views from World Showcase.

If they decided to do it I am sure they wouldn’t just plop down Art of Animation down in Fantasyland and call it good.

When was Epic Universe first announced?

It was announced in 19, but Uni finalized buying all the land in 13, so was pretty clear.

Not sure I'd want to see a hotel from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Have you been to Pais DL or DisneySea?

Also not sure why there has to be another themed hotel. Room inventory is pretty full most of the time as is.

Then why since Chapek was head of parks, has every Hotel or DVC built or planned look like this? Fancy apartment lofts with a veneer of cheap theming? and pricing

Meanwhile in Tokyo this very land gets this, inside the park.

Also lets take said condo tower and land it right in the middle of the two most cherished, and perfectly themed monorail hotels they own.
